The next single from 'Razorlight' has been confirmed as the 3rd song on the album 'Hold On'. It will be released as 7" only and will be available from the 9th July 2007.

Any thoughts on this? Personally, I think it should have been 'Who Needs Love' instead, but its a good song nevertheless. Let's face it, it can't do any worse than 'I Can't Stop This Feeling I've Got'

My prediction: Not even top 75 :(

7" releases are getting more and more popular these days, but still, the sales will be tiny.

No, it was download only

Made no.44 in the official charts :(

I would like to qualify the following question by saying that I am a razorlight fan, and that I like "Hold On" a fair bit.

But.

Does anyone else think that "Hold On" could be quite successfully sung by Phil Collins and be on one of his later albums?

..Yeah actually I could imagine him singing something like this :o

Not sure AT ALL whey they've gone to release this. :/

It's a good track but I don't think it's single worthy; Back To The Start, LA Waltz and Pop Song 2006 are all much better suited in my opinion, still it's only a limited release for the fans and such so I don't think the record company are banking on it doing too tell. I just think it would be good if they get started on the new album now, as Razorlight's sold over 1m now and it's been milked to death.

Aye thats true like. Some fresh material for maybes 2009 would be good. Still, theyve got a lot of dates lined up for the near future, so they'll more than likely start on new stuff once they're out of the way ^_^

I think they'll release their album next year. :o Up All Night and Razorlight were released both round about the same time only two years apart, so I think in 2008 there shall be a new Razorlight album. ^_^ I just wonder how they new one will sound.

Nah, I still think 2008 is a bit optimistic... early 2009 seems most likely, once their tours and gigs are all out the way

I guess, I mean it just depends how many songs they write and stuff and how many of them are album worthy etc etc. ^_^ I mean I remember their 2nd album was delayed for ages, and was only released when it was because the record company had sent an offical date and they couldn't change it!

 yeah

We might see the first single from it towards the end of 2008, but like I said, spring 2009 seems most likely given that most albums come out 2 years apart ^_^

Really?!

I could have sworn I read somewhere it was download only

Ah well, it made no.44 anyway :(

  • 4 weeks later...

Apparently, according to midweek information it's entered the top 75 so its already done better than I predicted

It'll probs finish top 70, which, for a 5th single isn't bad at all ^_^

The impact downloads have had on multiple album singles :o The Killers were at #53 last week (Which I bought  )

It still does the job for album sales though with the album back into the top 50.

Shall probably buy this single when I next go to London.
