About to rush home in a minute to watch!

a WHOPPER of an episode 10/10, bring on the final episode.

As for the Jones family talk about wooden acting, they are not needed in the series at all.

this time next week bring on the withdrawal symptoms

9/10 for this week

A stunning episode.

And a few nods to the classic series

The Master watching the teletubbies, was a direct homage to the scene in the Sea Devils

where the master watches the clangers.

And there was the jellybabies too.

Brilliant acting by Tennant and Simm.

And good special effects.

10/10

Good episode, I thought it was the doctor who liked jelly babies :D

It is, but it's a still a nod to the past.

Simm is a great actor :o i thought he played the part really well!! he seemed really phycotic

OK I've just watched it after recording it last night.

A typically RTD mixed episode with a lot of good bits spoilt in places.

The opening ten minutes was poor, Martha recognised his voice immediately last week so why did she forget it then suddenly remember again? Also John Simm's portrayal didn't work for me at all, far too pantomime Jack Nicholson for my liking, not enough darkness and menace for the Master.

Having said that Freema (Martha) finally showed she can act with an authorative, feisty side that has been missing in her character up until now.

I loved the Tom Baker Doctor references with the jellybabies & the "Britain Britain Britain" chant reminding me of a certain 21st Century comedy show that he narrates.... and the Torchwood references...

Definite political message too with Saxon being based on a mad David Cameron?

The use of the drums rhythm and the Archangel network were good and well worked through the episode but was spoilt by the use of Voodoo Child at the end IMHO.

Toclafane were good in small numbers but the finale with the 6 billion (the same number as the population of Earth) was OTT.

A good idea, badly implemented IMO - could have been so much better. i.e. with Derek Jacobi as the Master not John Simm.

7.5 out of 10.

Adored It as usual. 10/10 cant wait for the massive finale

a good episode, i thought john simm played the part well but couldn't help wondering how much better it could have been with Derek Jacobi

Freema was great tonight, i still think the actress' who play Martha's mother and sister are the least wooden in the series, Reggie Yates only had a couple of lines but the 'acting' was painful.

And captain jack didn't annoy me, but mcfly did so it loses marks for that travesty!!!!

I hope next week's finale is a great ending to, imo, what has been the most consistent series of the revival!!!!

9/10

I agree, the use of Voodo Child was inappropriate, and ruined a potentially great scene just for the use of the "here come the drums" lyric.

But, generally, a fantastic episode, and I think Freema really proved herself in this one.

quite a few people in my class was doing the drumming thing

To be honest, I think it's getting a bit predictable now for the ending of a Dr Who series to have this whole "Apocalyptic, end-of-the World" plotlines in which the Doctor has to save the whole of humanity from nasty robot thingies (Daleks, Cybermen, and now these killer spheres which frankly remind me a LOT of the "Squiddies" from The Matrix, especially when you saw the swarm of them at the end of the episode, Russell T doing his usual, nicking from other films..... <_< )..... And I am getting totally weary of the lack of alien landscapes and travelling to other worlds as a whole.... The TARDIS is a vehicle that can travel to any time and place in space, yet the script-writers always seem to come back to Earth more often than not (frankly, I dont care if it was 3 trillion years or whatever, it's still Earth, and no, "Alternate Earths" dont count either - it is still EARTH....). I've read and heard some of the attempts to justify this general lack of alien landscapes and frankly I dont buy them. At all... Not even so much as a trip to Skaro.....

The episode itself was pretty good, but I do agree with TiP, John Simm did somewhat come off as apeing a young Jack Nicholson, with a side-order of Christian Slater as well when he went psycho... I did like the whole "Jelly Babies" and "Britain, Britain, Britain", nice touches, and a nod to the legend that is Tom Baker (whether you like it or not ElPres, Tom Baker IS a legend and still casts a huge shadow over Dr Who). I think the best bit was really the conversation between The Doctor and The Master, when both Simm and Tenant just dropped all the silly pantomime tics and just acted... Tenant is definitely acting more seriously in the role now, the screeching and mugging all but gone... And hell, even Barrowman managed not to be irritating (a miracle....). And, believe it or not, Freema in "actual good performance shocker!!!!".. Only took you about 11 episodes to do it love.....

Good episode with some interesting elements, but could be better, and less predictable.... 6.5/10

I agree with you that there should be more alien planets. BUT:

Episode 11 was set on the planet Mala...(cant quite remember its name) so thats not earth is it??

Episode 1 was set on the moon

the reason the doctor gave is that when the time lords were all killed the tardis was no longer able to travel outside this galaxy

Finale on Saturday, someone should edit the thread title :P Ooo cannot wait :w00t:
