July 1, 200718 yr Well there'd be no reason to stop  Carolyna is doing well all over Europe and This Time hasnt left Germany's Album chart Top 75 since it was released ^_^ Not sure if the UK will get future singles from this project, though I suspect we will :D
July 1, 200718 yr Maybe the buzz around the Spice Girls reunion could work in her favour for future singles a BIT. :P
July 1, 200718 yr I think hope so too :P Anyway im going to leave this thread so people can get back on topic
July 1, 200718 yr Mel C - I Want Candy Emma Bunton - Downtown Ashley Tisdale - Be Good To Me Natasha Bedingfield - I Wanna Have Your Babies Beverley Knight - No Man's Land Christina Aguilera - Ain't No Ohter Man Sugababes - Easy Girls Aloud - Long Hot Summer Lindsay Lohan - Confessions Of A Broken Heart (Daughter To Father)
July 1, 200718 yr Natasha Bedingfield - I Wanna Have Your Babies (EASILY) Beyonce - Deja Vu... Upgrade U would have done better imo Gwen Stefani - Wind It Up Evanesence - Call Me When You're Sober Jennifer Lopez - Jenny From The Block... should never have been recorded! Mariah Carey - It's Like That Avril Lavigne - Don't Tell Me (My Happy Ending would have been better) Fergie - London Bridge Janet Jackson - Call On Me (WHY WOULD SHE RELEASE THAT SHIZ!!!)
July 1, 200718 yr Evanescence- 'Call Me when you're sober', was the right decision i think because it did well worldwide and helped the album sell quite alot wlen considering it only had 1 single that was at least moderately successful, i think the second singke was the problem if anything. As for Mariah-It's like that i think was also a good choice since the record company knew that WBT was gonna blew up and its best to have your 2nd song a smash as it keeps the album about for a while rather than one big single and the follow up not being as good and the album dropping like a stone. They promoted WBT on the sticker of the album even before it was even mentioned as the 2nd single and even before they had a video for it they obviously knew it was going to be massive. Furhtermore, 'It's like that' was huge for a Mariah song at the time number 4 in the Uk just missing out in the top 3 , top 10 in Australia, 6 in the united world chart, number 16 in the USA bearing in mind downloads werent that big at the time and radio had ignored her for the previous 5 years. Also the single helped the album open with over 400k in America.
July 1, 200718 yr Last Year by Lucie Silvas was a good choice, just under-promoted! More recently, Andrea Corr's Shame On You was a disaster. I'd say Shame On You was necessarily the problem for Andrea, just plain indifference to her in general, aswell as the fact that it's been a long time since The Corrs did particularly well on singles.
July 2, 200718 yr I think we should also have a thread for unwise/bad choices for 2nd singles, as they're also defining on the artists' projects. For instance, Natalie Imbruglia looked like having a very promising performance with her album "Counting Down The Days" when "Shiver" was released as the lead single, but after the album debuted at No.1 it plummeted due to poor interest in the follow-up single "Counting Down The Days". A shame as I love that album.
July 2, 200718 yr This year there have been loads of artists releasing quite weak songs as comeback singles, though it has happened for many years, can anyone think of any examples where other album tracks are far superior to the first singe? So far I have: Delta Goodrem-Out of the blue Natasha Bedingfield-I wanna have your babies Kelly Clarkson-Never again Melanie C-I want candy Joss Stone-Tell me bout it Robbie Williams-Rudebox Beyonce-Deja vu Gwen Stefani-Wind it up I agree with some of those..I don't care for Never Again and I Wanna Have Your Babies and I Want Candy are :puke2: I also agree with Mariah Carey-It's Like That because there are better songs on the album than that..and that new Paul McCartney song Dance Tonight..why..
July 2, 200718 yr Author I'd say Shame On You was necessarily the problem for Andrea, just plain indifference to her in general, aswell as the fact that it's been a long time since The Corrs did particularly well on singles. I agree, I doubt any track on that album would catch on as the public in general seem to be over The Corrs...their last top 10 hit was Summer Sunshine which was very anthemic  I was actually surprised that it got to No.6 and even more shocked when Borrowed Heaven went to No.2 :o Come to think of it, I didn't expect Home to go top 20, and I certainly didn't think Andrea's album would go top 40... Where their/her singles have underperformed, their album always seem to exceed my expectations

Personally I think 'Lithium' is their best song by far and the only other track after 'Sober' that couldve been a single! Sadly they barely promoted it and so it flopped -_- Best song of theirs by miles though. It encouraged me to pick up the album which is a bit sh!t :( I'd say Shame On You was necessarily the problem for Andrea, just plain indifference to her in general, aswell as the fact that it's been a long time since The Corrs did particularly well on singles. Well Summer Sunshine got to number 6 in 2004! I think the song was a bad choice because in parts it just sounds plain out of tune! And they couldve really launched the project with a bang by releasing Take Me Im Yours - something so electro sounding wouldve got Andrea loads of attention!

Where their/her singles have underperformed, their album always seem to exceed my expectations Well I don't know, they'd always done well on albums, every one of their studio albums before Borrowed Heaven also went top 3, so there was no reason then to believe any different. The single did surprise me, I thought top 20 maybe, not top 10. Although Summer Sunshine still isn't my favourite from that album... Well Summer Sunshine got to number 6 in 2004! I'm not convinced really, going electro didn't get Rachel Stevens very far, and she was much more of a media figure than Andrea.
July 3, 200718 yr I thought of a few more..Eve's Tambourine and Kelly Rowland's Like This..I don't care for either of them. :puke2:
July 3, 200718 yr Summer Sunshine still isn't my favourite from that album... Me neither, Angel and Baby Be Brave are the highlights for me B) As for Eve's Tambourine, i think that's a good choice, so we'll see how the album does. The video for her next single, with Sean Paul, is shot already, so hopefully if the album doesnt do well initially that'll save things :D

July 3, 200718 yr this isnt really the first single but.... How To Touch A Girl - JoJo back on topic: Alive - Sclub
July 3, 200718 yr back on topic: Alive - Sclub I agree, had they released something else, or another single before the album it would of peaked better than #17, all the other albums peaked within the top 3
July 3, 200718 yr ^if they wanted to release a dance track then what better track to release than Dance :D
