Well many parts have had the wettest, dullest June on record with many having very little sunshine at all.

Temperature's have been untterly pathetic for the time of year recently and there is NO sign of summer coming back

at all, in fact it looks like the cool rainy dross could be with us for much of July.

So could 2007 be the year that summer never came?

I know its only early on in the summer but the pattern in the atlantic of the neverending cycle of lows could just

go on and on at this rate. Much of Europe looks set for a major heatwave next weekend, Temperatures in the mid

30's possible in France, you'd think that heat would get here, its not going to thanks to yet ANOTHER storm so

whilst Paris will enjoy 32c and sunshine we will endure 16c and torrential rain.

Youve seen the floods on the news all week, more rain is going to make the situation much worse but

there is just no sign of a drier spell at all, time to give up on summer????

we can't win whichever way the weather swings, if it rains the world is coming to an end with global warming, and if its too sunny the world is coming to an end with global warming, and so on

Its good news, a cool summer means a cool atlantic which should mean a snowy winter ^_^

I would sacrifice a summer for us to have a spectacularly cold snowy winter

Well you know that aint going to happen, sea temperatures are above normal despite the dross, were stuck inside

all winter because its cold, grey and rainy so imo id rather have a hot sunny summer with some big thunderstorms

as its lovely, it rarely snows in winter anymore so tbh im expecting a stormy wet winter again with little snow (though id love

to be wrong), therefore id rather it was warm/hot till October.

All I can say, is nice weather for DUCKS

But I feel sad for the people that live up North, I have a friend up there but touch wood, his area has not been flooded, everytime I see the news it disappoints me, and the rain is nonstop, luckily in the south we having been badly efftected.

it's the sort of weather people complain about in November?!

Relentless.... the rain and fog just seems to be getting heavier and thicker by the day....and apparently we have a few more adverse weather fronts heading our way - we can expect this kind of weather until mid-July! :o

thats utter bollox craig.... theres NO correlation between a cool summer and a cold winter. without the correct synoptics there will not be snow in winter. in winter cold air comes from the north or east, little contact with the huge, mild, atlantic. so sea temperatures play very little role in determining overall temperatures (from a cold scource, but it might mean higher temps from the west). in fact warm seas could assist more snowfall as convection would be increased when cold air passes over warm seas.

^ Whatever :D

While I'm not a sun worshipper, I'm not feeling overly pleased with myself for selecting the next two weeks for a summer holiday...

If it snows before the turn of the year I will be amazed  I've given up on seeing proper lush snow again :(
move to Wales...always snows here in winter - lots of it, too ;)

I love summer usually - the long hot days, sunny evenings, sitting in the park. We had this in APRIL, and we should have it now. The summer is the only thing that gets me though winter.

ARGH! :(

unfortunately theres precious little sign of a pattern change, things might get warmer/drier in the south by next weekend, but its hardly barbie weather...

its incredible that in a warm year many of us still havnt had a 25c+ !!!!

I agree, even i who LOVES the winter and snow would rather have a hot or even warm summer.

This time last year it was the case of having a heatwave yet a year on and its more like January again, we cant sit in the gardens

in the middle of winter cos its to bloody cold yet this year we seem to be banished to houses in the middle of summer!!!

Its so depressing tbh because now is the best time for warm/hot summer as its when the days are at the longest, yet we

have scenes of Autumn 2000 and a repeat of winter 06/07 in the middle of summer, awful and the 18z is a load of

garbage so far to

Even by the weekend only 18-19c is being forecast for us which is ridiculous for a sunny day in July,

ive not got above 23c yet and ive had very little sunshine here this month, in fact i think Saturday 9th

was the only sunny day here lol as even in that warm spell it was misty/cloudy here till about 3-5pm some days,

and on some it was grey all day

Conor, I am not a weather expert, so why can Paris have such nice weather and ours is so rubbish despite the fact that Paris is only a about 100 miles from Southern England?

Is is down to the English Channel, the North Atlantic Current or the North Sea??

Its because most of the atlantic lows break up as they reach France as in Summer there is often very warm dry again coming up

from the south there and high pressure, as the rain heads through the channel hitting the high pressure it weakens so Paris

can be 32c some days while London is 17c, this is likely to happen next weekend as high pressure moves north east through

France draggin hot air up, but it misses the Uk due to the storms off the atlantic.

Ah right, thanks for explaining. It still annoys me at how bad our summer is.

:o The charts actually are much better in the end on this run, 20-22c being shown right across the country on Friday, then 23-24c Saturday with the warmer air just about making it out of France, i bet it will go though again on the next run :S
