hello everyone i was wondering where i could get everyone together to start a campaign and that's knock rihanna of the no.1 spot who in their right bloody mind would keep it there over such big acts like fergie, mcr, timbaland, avril, arctics, enrique and mutya come on people make a change go out there and buy more records of over acts than rihanna because not only is she 1,2,3,4,5,6, but even 9 weeks there its really get in my pants and i will kill myself if she is number 1 next week come on people go out buy 10 of fergie's record or mcr's or avrils because this is not right do the right things and make a new number 1.

 

i'm getting fed up of rihanna number 1 each week its crashing my nuts now do something.

I despise the Arctic Monkeys but I'd rather they be number one than this pile of rubbish Umbrella (IMO). Come on ... it is absolute tosh! AGain, IMO, she says avoiding the heavy objects whistling past her ear!

It's not a suprise though, and proves once again what a joke the charts are,dare I say but I'd rather have the Crazy bloody frog back at #1 than this utter $h!te. :P

 

The Arctic Monkey's should be #1, but unless they release a novelty song themselfs then I can't see that happening anytime soon. Is'nt there any big summer songs coming out that will knock it off?

At least Umbrella is #1 on (dubious) merit, as opposed to previous long running #1s that were due to the Movie (Bryan Adams, Wet Wet Wet, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion) or charity single (if I never hear Candle In The Wind 97 it will still be too soon), or gimmicky first week buying by a teen fan base (hello McFly & Westlife).

 

I've been disappointed that Rihanna has stopped one of the best records of this year by Kate Nash making #1 and it looks like it is going to stop the best Arctic Monkeys single since their debut, but that's life. :coffee:

I don't agree. I think that the fact the songs were featured in movies contributed very little to their success. Otherwise every box office smash would have a No.1 single to it's name.

In fact, in the case of Bryan Adams and (I think) Wet Wet Wet, the inclusion of the song on the film soundtrack may have been a small hindrance as it was the only place other than the single you could get the song.

 

Umbrella is No.1 mainly due to the lack of high selling materials at the moment. Initially No.1 on merit (though I fail to see the merit of the dire single myself), the last 4 or 5 weeks have been pretty much by default, hence the fact that she has still not sold as many copies as a lot of late-90s chart toppers sold in one week.
