It’s a little slow paced. There’s a lot of inevitable building they are doing for Mackenzie/Haz, and Terese/Paul and Toadie/Mel reunions but for now there is no single must watch storyline. They need to change this quickly to keep interest up.

I can’t buy Nell having a 15th birthday party at all either. Everyone else aged by two years (in the space of one) but Nell and Hugo gained four years? Even for soap this is far fetched.

Totally agree that its missing the must watch storyline and there doesnt seem to be anything building at the moment to that must watch moment, i am intrigued to see how long they will drag out the Mike and Jane relationship before we know how Mike leaves the show, i wonder how many more video appearances Guy Pearse has recorded and has he wrapped up his part in the shoe yet.

I’m actually really enjoying this still despite things seeming low key. There’s a lot of character stuff going on like the David/Aaron/Remi/Cara meal which was pretty beautiful.

And Wendy freely admitting she eavesdrops her daughter’s phone calls, that woman is a queen.

I’m enjoying it so far. It does have its little down points, but I think it has some good patches to balance it out.
Krista collapsing from drugs at the stroke of midnight at New Year’s Eve is so camp
So who is the worst character in this revival and why is it Haz?
I struggle to connect fully to the storylines since the return, and the Toadie, Mel, Terese, Paul storyline does not help.

I think if you’re still making comments like this four months in, perhaps the show is no longer for you? I admit there was an awkward start, but I’d say it’s mostly recovered since then and is at least on par with where the show was before it ended (last few weeks of 2022 aside).

The Toadie and Terese stuff is the weakest but even now it’s been made pretty clear that the relationship is more obstacle than endgame. Mel is slowly becoming her old self. Haz grates on me but I feel there’s a story brewing there. Mackenzie is better than she was before the show ended and I’m enjoying Holly. The Varga-Murphy’s are a great new addition and I feel like the Rodwells are becoming a brilliant unit following the lame start they got before the finale. Jane’s family unit are also working well with the recasts of Byron and Nicolette actually being really successful and very sibling like. Byron was pretty much a blank slate but Nicolette was a well established character and a hard one to portray well. I still prefer the previous one but the new one has been great too and very much feels like the character.

I know the stories may feel more pedestrian than they were before the finale, but that’s kind of how Neighbours always was. Do I want it to be as OTT as it was before the break? No. Plots like Harlow and the Order? Keep it. Freya, the character who was held hostage about half a dozen times during her six months in the show? Nah. David uncharacteristically letting someone die for the plot? I didn’t love it but it happened and I like how they’re portraying the aftermath now.

So it’s not perfect but it’s definitely better than nothing for me. If you don’t like it after four months, perhaps you’re just not into it anymore.

Im still waiting to see how the Mike and Jane storyline is going to conclude and we are yet to hear of any time frame when we will know. Jane is such a great character though Annie brings such a warmth to all her performances that male Jane so easy to believe in. I think from the new characters Holly is showing a lot of potential and i do feel she will eventually follow in some of her mothers footsteps but i could be wrong.
But what exactly are you expecting in terms of closure for Jane and Mike. They’re engaged but currently living apart due to different commitments, it’s not a completely unrealistic situation. Guy has been such a good sport in doing anything and I expect we may see him back at some point if he gets time in his schedule and Annie is due a break to film a quick wedding. I’m more than content with Jane popping away every now and then or even the odd mention of her being away for the weekend because Mike has returned home for a spell and they’ve done a quick holiday or something. Jane doesn’t need relationship plots to stay relevant. She is the school principal, had two children and a grandchild on the street and very strong friendships with key characters. Honestly I think they’ve handled it all so well.

David’s death was very well done, very emotional. I don’t think I’ll necessarily miss the character as he was pretty much done before the ‘finale’ but I’m looking forward to where it takes the remaining characters.

David's death was very well delivered.

Well written and very emotional.

Best episode since Neighbours returned.

Agree, I think the aftermath has potential to be really good as well.

Yes it does open up storylines for Aaron now, i suppose all the clues were there that David was going as Aaron and David had a very loved up week or 2 prior to him dying so it all fitted.

I hope the storyline doesnt overly focus on Paul but its sure to yet another step in leading to him and Terese getting back together.

Terese and Toadie are excruciating, I don’t even know why they had to put them together let alone now go back in circles with them and Melanie/Paul.

Like the whole Krista thing still could have happened without Melanie leaving as Holly was involved, I don’t see why it also needed Melanie even if it’s given her character a different direction. Idk, it just seems like they aren’t even slightly invested in trying to make Toadie and Terese a believable couple so what was the point.
