Posted September 24, 200717 yr Is anyone else really disturbed by how much this song flopped. From first listen i expected this would definitely be number one, and a huge one at that! I dont know if its because it was circulating in clubs and on the net since february, but still i think it has to be one of the biggest chart shocks in recent times, well for me anyway. Was anyone else abit baffled too?
September 24, 200717 yr To be honest, I wasnt. The song wasnt that good, its incredibly overrated imo. And GA were never a big singles act anyway. It became their biggest hit ever so its hardly a flop.
September 24, 200717 yr I hear what you're saying Skyzzo dear, but Mutya IS a singles act and considering Real Girl was #2 and had quite a decent chart run I thought this would do better since I think it is a better track and a lot more catchy in my opinion. So in conclusion yeah I was shocked too, the dire video didn't really help it much. -_-
September 24, 200717 yr I love Groove Armada, but Song 4 Mutya was a pretty so-so single... their earlier stuff, especially the Vertigo album, is far, far better. And despite chart placings, I think Groove Armada have had 2 far better selling (and remembered) tracks - I See You Baby and At The River.
September 24, 200717 yr Author Woah im well suprised, i consider Song 4 Mutya to be the second greatest pop single ever, behind Push The Button, the chorus and the way it leads up is absolutely amazing!
September 24, 200717 yr i adored song for mutya, but it had been available online from february an it charted at least a month b4 its release and steadily moved up the top 200 plus it was well overplayed, thats what killed real girl 2
September 24, 200717 yr I loved this song from the moment I first heard it and thought this was going to be huge! They left it too late though, and even I was bored of it come July.
September 24, 200717 yr I expected at least a top 5 hit really...its one of my 3 favourite songs of 2007...but it leaked too early and the video was a bit poor too
September 24, 200717 yr Author Agreed, had it been Mutyas song i think it would have had more presence, i dont think people really got the whole Groove Armada thing. It would of had a wicked video and i dont think it would have leaked so early either. Its just a very clear example of why some record companies have serious employment issues! I still thought it would have made number one tho, its huge on the gay scene, everynight it, and a load of its remixes get played, i just wished it had done better cos it deserved too!

Plus - they've made some of the most groundbreaking music videos EVER. YouTube them and have a look. To suggest this song suffered because of their affiliation with it (it was their song, remember, she just did guest vocals) is ludicrous.
September 24, 200717 yr I think it performed pretty well considering electro-pop isn't performing well in the charts at the moment and hasn't been for a long time. I think it was a very solid single, but I wouldn't class it among the best of the year. Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 'Catch You', now that was a stormer of an electro-pop track which performed similarly but should have at least made the top 5 along with this. :(

September 24, 200717 yr The song was amazing. Should of at least been top 5. It's funny this topic is here today, because the song has been in my head all day :P
September 24, 200717 yr I thought the song was c**p tbh. It just wasn't easy to sing too. i so have 2 disagree, i love singin along 2 it, an her accent is lush
September 24, 200717 yr being picky here, but I've seen this loads on this site today... there's no such thing as 'should of' or 'would of'... it's 'should have' and 'would have'... grr..... :arrr: a pet hate of mine, that ;) Edited September 24, 200717 yr by russt68
September 25, 200717 yr How could it be a flop - it reached No.8 I wouldnt say it flopped as much as i'd say it underperformed, yes it was a hit but nowhere near as big as people thought it would be, before S4M came out all the reviews for it were great and gave off the impression this would be a contender for #1 or at least a def. top 5 hit, so when it ended up at #8 i think it was a bit of a let down. It also fell kind of fast too...anyone know how much it sold?
