That isn't to say they aren't brilliant pop songs, I just don't think Britney deserves the credit for them.

Hmmm... I think she puts her style to them. I have heard the demos of some of her trademark songs and they sound very boring with someone else's voice, tbh.

But each to their own I guess, you may enjoy them regardless who's singing it. I like Britney's voice on the records.

They're both patchy (borderline rubbish most of the time) at best, although they do have some fantastic pop songs between them.

AMAZING choice! So, so good. Really should have been a single over 'Criminal'! Would have been something different for both her and the current music charts.

Oh and @AnthonyT - I prefer Kylie to Madonna. Kylie's done an album that I love. I'm yet to like an album by Madonna.

This is quite tough...I love both and I don't think anyone can doubt they've both had amazing careers, BUT if I did absolutely have to choose I'd probably say Kylie.

But let's be honest, "Criminal" is like nothing else in the charts at the moment.

Exactly. Britney has a brilliant recording voice. I don't think any of the songs on 'Blackout' would have been HALF as good without her voice. It isn't the strongest, but it is unique and perfect for the music she does. More then a canvas to me, by far.

I had to say Kylie, but I do love them both really, they each have a load of good songs, and unique voices.

I'm not even a Britney stan or anything (although admittedly she is probably only just outside my top 10 singers ever) but I have to agree with Tyler, of course the production is a big part of the songs but I really do love her voice. Like I've said before in this thread, she's not Whitney and Mariah and we all know that but I love listening to her voice - something I can't always say for Kylie (although like I said previously she has some good songs).

If for some reason Madonna had to be in here (just re: Tony's point) then Britney > Madonna >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kylie

Neither are great vocalists and wouldn't really be much without their songwriting/production team and I'd say both are rapidly fading in relevance to today's mainstream (Britney DEFINITELY a good sight more so), but I'd say Kylie is slightly better than Britney overall in this field. Songwise, Kylie has some fantastic pop songs that are classics to this day, Britney has done a few but not as many and has really gone to shit recently (I'm expecting a lot of hate for that, but since 2007, everything she's done has been poor rehashes or just plain dreadful). Kylie has proved great consistency and longevity as well so yeah, not a tough choice...

All in my very humble opinion of course :P

Britney's relevance is waning in Europe, not because her music is lacking. It's because the bitch won't get off her ass to promote outside of the USA anymore, besides touring. The only song to get promo outside of a music video in the UK, is 'Womanizer' (since 'Blackout').
