Tony Christie - 7 weeks 2005

Cher - 7 weeks 1998

Spice Girls - 7 weeks 1996

Robson & Jerome - 7 weeks 1995

Celine Dion - 7 weeks 1995

If Gnarls Barkley manage another week then it will have outstayed all of the above recent 7 weekers - but fall far short on sales (esp Robson & Jerome who did over 1.5m in 7 weeks).

Before these were:

Wet Wet Wet - 15 weeks 1994

Whitney Houston - 10 Weeks 1992/3

Shakespear's Sister - 8 Weeks 1992 (but only about 585,000 in sales)

Bryan Adams - 16 Weeks 1991

Frankie Goes to Hollywood - 9 weeks 1984

John Travolta & Olivia Newton-john - 9 weeks 1978

Wings - 9 weeks 1977/8

Queen - 9 weeks 1975/6

Archies - 8 weeks 1969

Shadows - 8 weeks 1962

Elvis Presley - 8 weeks 1960

Perry Como - 8 weeks 1958

Paul Anka - 9 weeks 1957

Slim Whitman - 11 weeks 1955

David Whitfield with chorus, and Mantovani and his orchestra - 10 weeks 1954

Doris Day - 8 weeks 1954

Eddie Cavert - 9 weeks 1954

Frankie Laine - 8 weeks 1953

Frankie Laine - 9 weeks 1953

Al Martino - 9 weeks 1952/3

These are the only tracks to ahve spent more than 7 weeks at number 1.

Looking ahead in the next few weeks I think Gnarls Barkley reign at #1 will end soon.

These are the potential #1 challengers IMHO.

May 15th

Christina Milian - Say I

May 22nd (A strange week - difficult to predict)

Feeling - Fill My Little World

Nerina Pallot - Everybody's Gone To War

Sandi Thom - I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker

Matt Willis - Up All Night

May 29th

Keane - Is It Any Wonder

June 5th

Embrace - World At Your Feet

Nelly Furtado - Maneater

June 12th

Christina Aguilera - Ain't No Other Man

June 19th

Rihanna - Unfaithful

Surely Keane will be too strong a challenge for Gnarls Barkley.

Gosh, you really have hopes Christina Milian will perform decently???
