SPICE GIRLS LOOSING OUT TO LEONA ON PRE-SALES

 

Leona Lewis has taken the lead in her battle against the Spice Girls for the number one album next week.

 

Lewis' debut Spirit is reportedly outselling the Spice Girls' Greatest Hits by six to one in pre-sales.

 

Her album is also expected to surpass the Arctic Monkeys' Favourite Worst Nightmare LP as the biggest-selling pre-release of the year.

 

An industry insider told the Mirror: "The Spice Girls may have a fanatical following but even they can't derail that juggernaut that's Leona Lewis.

 

"The amazing sales of her single 'Bleeding Love' only served to ramp up enthusiasm for her album. Leona is well out in front."

 

Amazon's head of music buying, Julian Monaghan commented: "This is an incredible result for Leona Lewis.

 

"When you look at our most pre-ordered artist in previous years, it has been the likes of the Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Dido."

Hope the SG will manage number 2 :D!! Obviously Leona will be number 1 though. Spice's will probably get the world number 1 though!

Pre-sales often mean little though. Girls Aloud's GH was supposed to have 250,000 in the first week :lol:

 

No doubt Leona will be #1 though, with my prediction of 220,000, with the Spicey ones on about 100,000 with the nutty hardcore fanbase

I like both but I want the Spice Girls to be number 1 - as it would make the whole thing more special

i should imagine the spice girls will clinch number 1.

 

don't underestimate the 90's children

Spice Girls will be #1 in the run up to Xmas. Supposed to be the 3rd most requested Christmas present this year.

I think it was pretty much a certain thing that Leona would get to number one. And good on her, it's a good album.

 

Spice's could go #1 a couple of weeks after it is released though.

They should have picked another week - the spiceys should be no.1.

they better get to number 1 as much as im loving all the tracks from leonas album
