November 13, 200717 yr Here is a pic, no doubt similar to the reaction Simon would have had on finding out that Leona's debut album has sold 4,000+ more copies on the first day than what the Arctic Monkeys debut managed: http://www.nationalledger.com/artman/uploads/simon_cowell_ai_001.jpg
November 13, 200717 yr why is it a sad day for music? just because the majority of people have different music taste to yours does not make it a sin, you should embrace diversity instead of bashing what you dont like!!! actually indie music was doing my head in, its about time real talent was recognized in this country!! In a years time you'll realise what sh*t you just spoke.
November 13, 200717 yr Or Feeder. Not at all, that would be a great day for independent music. Their 2003 tour was one of the quickest-selling of that year in the UK. Half the dates sold out in 2 weeks, and two more got added to meet demand. And don't bring Feeder into it to bash me, they're like celebrities in Wales. Edited November 13, 200717 yr by Marcus
November 13, 200717 yr And that banner at the bottom is pi**ing me off. EDIT- IT'S GONE!!!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: . Edited November 13, 200717 yr by Marcus
November 13, 200717 yr Yeah. Go people who've been to various singing schools and yet gone nowhere from it and who don't write their songs. Brilliant. :yahoo: And end up producing a pile of cr*p that will be selling at bargain bins accross the UK!!!.
November 13, 200717 yr In a years time you'll realise what sh*t you just spoke. thats just rude. But you are entitled to your opinion otherwise My opinion is that Leona is a true talent and deseves every bit of her success.
November 13, 200717 yr And anyway, Arctic Monkeys sold 118k on their first day. She's sold 5k more. It's not a dead cert, is it? Especially when so many people are saying a lot of places have sold out. I'm sorry ... that is total pants - I mean people saying they can't find it or its out of stock - its just plain and utter pants. In HMV Wigan there were squillions of Leona, Spice Girls, Take That, etc yesterday and I went in today and its the same. Maybe we Wiganers are just more careful with our money! Or we're probably trying to save our money as joint town effort to spend on something more worthwhile, like coaxing a decent manager to take over Wigan Athletic! November 13, 200717 yr eBay and car boot sales sellers will be delighted When Leona has faded into obscurity in a years time when the latest fad and "next big thing" comes along eBay and car boot sales will be swamped with Leona albums as people try get rid and realise they were just sucked in by the hype

November 13, 200717 yr Seriously, don't take anything for granted. Other Reality TV stars who've started well have ended up being dropped and performed really poorly when they get to second album. Look at the likes of KT Tunstall and James Blunt. Both had HUGE debut albums but the second albums and singles released from them have performed awfully in comparison. Just because she's had a huge selling number one album and single does not guarentee anything. Cowell and co have promised all this stuff before yet the only RTV stars that have made it are those that have moved away from the typical drab they release and started to take control of their own career. Leona will have to do the same, maybe develop a bit of personality and record a song which isn't a ballad once in a while...
November 13, 200717 yr Okay well LOGICALLY the way I see it is - everyone was saying the EXACT same thing about Shayne Ward "disappearing into obscurity within a year" but in reality almost 2 years on he's just had a #2 single and is releasing his next single and album soon. Now that is someone who had the exact same background as Leona (X-Factor winner) however Shayne didn't have half as much success as Leona has had in terms of his first proper single or his album. By the looks of things Leona's album will sell more than what Shayne's did in total within 2 weeks of release. Therefore, logically if Shayne is still here after 2 years, how long will Leona last...?
November 13, 200717 yr She wont fade into obscurity, she just wont see first week sales like this again. She's only got the sales over the hype surrounding her. The material is good, which also helps. Good on her.

Whilst you certainly have a point, Gareth Gates was still having top 5 hits two years after his Pop Idol, and then nothing happened for three more years..
November 13, 200717 yr Ah yeah I know that, i'm just saying this whole "in a year she'll be gone" stuff is rubbish. :P
November 13, 200717 yr Whilst you certainly have a point, Gareth Gates was still having top 5 hits two years after his Pop Idol, and then nothing happened for three more years.. I think an aspect of Gareth Gates downfall was the whole 'affair' with Jordan, plus of course his bland records.
November 13, 200717 yr Here's what I have to say on the whole thing. Feeder and Arctic Monkeys will be around for much more longer than Leona, no matter how many she sells this week. Both acts followed up their debuts with sucsessful albums, and I doubt this flash-in-the-pan product will. Feeder have 171 weeks on both single and album charts combined, making them one of the top 500 biggest chart acts of all time, in an all-time ranking that celebrates longetivity, rather than this flash in the pan here today gone tomorrow waste of time of a singer you lot seem to be bigging up at the moment just because Simon Coward told you to. I have said my piece, you lot who love Leona Lewis better enjoy her time in the spotlight while it lasts, because in a years time, or come the second album it'll be gone before you can say Psycho records. November 13, 200717 yr How has this turned into a Feeder thread?! Well, I know how, but cease and decist, please.
November 13, 200717 yr Some sad Physcho records/Leona/X Factor fans have decided to bash me based on the music I like. Pathetic  Feeder care about their fans, this woman only cares about MONEY.
