Leona Lewis looks set to break chart records this Sunday, with early sales reports suggesting that her debut album Spirit (Syco) will record the highest first-week sales of a debut album by a solo artist in the UK.

The album sold more than 100,000 copies on its first day of release, making it a near certainty to top the charts this Sunday.

However, if the title keeps its sales momentum, it looks likely to break the 225,000 first-week sales of Craig David’s Born To Do It, which currently holds the record for first-week sales of a debut album by a solo artist.

Spirit also stands a good chance of passing the 228,000 first-week sales of Arctic Monkeys’ Favourite Worst Nightmare (Domino), currently the highest weekly sales of any album in the UK this year.

The success of Spirit comes in a week where the albums chart is dominated by new releases: the Spice Girls’ Greatest Hits (Virgin), Celine Dion’s Taking Chances (Columbia), The Killers’ Sawdust (Vertigo), Led Zeppelin’s Mothership (Rhino), Andrea Bocelli’s Vivere (UCJ) and Cliff Richard’s Love – The Album (EMI) all look set for Top 10 chart entries, in what may prove to be the biggest week for albums sales so far this year.

David Gray’s Greatest Hits (Atlantic) and Craig David’s Trust Me (Warner Bros) look likely to net Top 20 entries.

Underlining Lewis’s chart dominance, the singer’s Bleeding Love looks set to mark another week at the summit of the singles chart, with several tracks from Spirit also set to creep into the lower reaches of the singles chart as individual downloads.

My predictions:-

Singles

1 Leona

2 Timbaland

3 Take That

4 Alicia Keys

5 Mark Ronson/Amy Winehouse

6 Kylie

Albums

1 Leona

2 Spice Girls

3 Celine Dion

4 Led Zeplin

5 Westlife

I reckon :

01 Leona

02 Alicia Keys

03 Take That

04 Kylie

05 Timbaland

06 Mark/Amy

08 Rihanna Ft Ne*Yo

Albums

01 Leona

02 Spice Girls

03 Celine Dion

04 Westlife

05 Led Zepplin

Bloc Party deserve a number one with 'Flux' but might have to settle for a top 5 at best.
kylie.co.uk are today reporting Kylie is comfortably no2 in the midweeks behind Leona. ???

well im glad :D LOL

I wanted kylies comeback to make number 1, but i want Leona to do the double more

and anyways, Kylie will have great album sales and she will be number 1 with that :D

Actually, Ive heard the clips from Kylie's album, and I think it could be my fave album this year :P

I reckon it will be:

Singles:

1. Leona

2. Kylie

3. Take That

4. Timberland

5. Alisha Keys

Albums

1. Leona

2. Spice Girls

3. Celine Dion

4. Westlife

5. Tne Eagles

17. McFly

I hope now the Tour Edition of "Beautiful World" has been released Take That will return to the Top.10 of the album charts

a mod. just posted this on sayhey. Kylie is #2, but it's a close 2-5. She sold more on monday than she did all of last week on downloads  the Kylie Show promo really helped out. I hope she can stay in there throughout the week

removed sorry

am I allowed to post this w/ the #'s? I hope i'm not breaking the rules or something.

Edited by M!key

yay, Leona will make it at least a month at number 1 in the singles

Top 40 is in with no sales, give me a mo
Not surprised at TSG fallin... all fans bought it las week, now it's turn for non-fans to bought it and until Friday night with the performences on CIN show, the single won't climb.

Edited by rub

Kneeola no1 in both probably, and rats to woolies yet again for not having the single that I want to buy in stock. I would have liked to have bought Alicia but oh no, that was too much to ask, no Timbaland last week either.
