Posted December 29, 200717 yr Jessica Simpson Going Country On New Album Jessica Simpson December 28, 2007, 11:15 AM ET Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. Believe it: Jessica Simpson has decamped to Nashville to begin work on her debut country album, due sometime in 2008 via Columbia Nashville. Simpson declined to name songwriting collaborators, but tells Billboard.com she will most definitely be involved in the creative process. "Writing is a release for me," she says. "It's a way for me to tell my story. That's not to say I wouldn't record a song that I didn't write. It's just that it has been a while since I have opened the book." But why country, and why now? "I am a country girl," she says. "I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to. I always wanted to make a country album, but I wanted to wait until the time was right." "I think there is a strength in female country artists," Simpson adds, citing Martina McBride, Shania Twain, Faith Hill and Reba McEntire as some of her inspirations. Asked what has surprised her most since starting the follow-up to 2006's "A Public Affair," Simpson says, "Nashville is a very warm city. The people are friendly and kind. There is a sense of community, which thrives on music. There is no animosity ... only respect for one another's talent." It's unclear if Simpson will hit the road in support of the as-yet-untitled country project, but she says, "Since the record is in the beginning stages, there hasn't been much talk about a tour just yet." Meh i love Jess but I don't like country music. Her cover of These Boots was awful. Unless she does something country-pop like Before He Cheats, Teardrops On My Guitar, Man I Feel Like A Woman, etc.
December 29, 200717 yr hmmm...cashing in on Carrie Underwood's success??? then again These Boots was quite a big hit for her...
December 29, 200717 yr Ooh, could be good if she goes down the Shania and Carrie route, but if not ... it could spell disaster. I see this as Jess' last chance on the music front.
December 29, 200717 yr She has to get this right! She went tooooo poppy with her last album, a country album could guarentee her sales, which could then allow her to make an album of her choice after doing the country route.
December 30, 200717 yr This could be good or bad..but if it sounds anything like These Boots, it's going to be terrible.
December 30, 200717 yr I quite liked 'These Boots Were Made For Walking'. -_- Edited December 30, 200717 yr by Tyler
December 30, 200717 yr I quite liked 'These Boots Were Made For Walking'. -_- Me too! :kink: I hope it's more of a country/pop she's leaning towards. Something that can cross over onto mainstream top 40 radio too.
December 30, 200717 yr This sounds like a nightmare to me, but I'll reserve judgement until I hear something.
December 30, 200717 yr eww she's over a s an artis she should just retire from music if she doesn't come out wityh anything hot after her flop album and im still ki9nda mad at hber for not releasing "Fired Up"
December 30, 200717 yr ^^^ LOL I liked her last album actually ^_^ too bad it floped :( hope she gonna hit with this one, and country hmmm
December 30, 200717 yr Well that's the final nail in the coffin of her UK music career; though it might work for the Americans... Edited December 30, 200717 yr by Shoat
December 31, 200717 yr I know it's off topic here... but the first day box office for Jessica's lastest movie was only $3000.
January 10, 200817 yr Ugh I hate it how people see Carrie Underwood having great crossover success and decide to jump on the bandwagon. I hated it how LeAnn Rimes (as much as I love her...) suddenly decided to do a country album again, and now Jessica. At least I liked LeAnn. Faaa-lush.

I really don't think Carrie Underwood had anything to do with LeAnn's decision to do a country album. She only did one mainstream pop album, and that wasn't even released in the States. I like Carrie, but LeAnn is so much better it is not even funny.
