Her performance also generates sales for her previous hit ‘Forgive Me’, back up to No7 from No12, and also sales for Snow Patrol’s original version, back in the Top 40 at No34. Meanwhile Beyoncé holds for a second week at No2 with ‘If I Were A Boy’, ahead of the X Factor Finalists’ ‘Hero’, down to No3 after four weeks on top, and Katy Perry’s ‘Hot ‘N’ Cold’, down from No3 to No4. It’s all change in this week’s Album Chart, with three new entries and a re-entry in the Top 10. Top honours go to The Priests – three full-time clergymen from the diocese of Down and Connor – whose eponymous debut album comes in at No1, outselling their nearest rival by nearly 2:1. Leona Lewis re-enters the chart at No2 with ‘Spirit’, thanks to a new CD/DVD deluxe edition, just ahead of Beyoncé’s ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’, new at No3 – the same debut position as her previous album ‘B’Day’ two years ago. Rod Stewart has the next new entry at No8 with his latest hits compilation ‘Some Guys Have All the Luck’, three places ahead of Dido whose third album ‘Safe Trip Home’ is new at No11. Shakyfan's Commentary During the week I reckoned that Ronnie Drew's final album may be a contender for no 1 this week. Well I got that completelt wrong as "The Last Session" goes in at 27. But I was right about the Priests who outsold Leona Lewis by a ratio of 2:1. It seems a lot of people were downloading individual tracks from the expanded version of Spirit with Run going straight in at 1 and Forgive Me rebounding from 12 to 7 Further down the singles chart am interesting pair of re-entries - Kid Rock returns at 48 with All Summer Long immediately ahead of Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You. And on the compilation chart Now 71 goes in at the top while its predecessor drops to no 30. Leona Lewis holds at No4 for a second week with ‘Spirit’, one place ahead of The Killers who drop to No5 after debuting at No1 last week with ‘Day & Age’. Leona Lewis extends her ‘Run’ at the top of the Singles Chart to three weeks, while Beyoncé takes a fourth consecutive week at No2 with ‘If I Were A Boy’. She follows in the footsteps of Leona Lewis and Leon Jackson who achieved the same feat after winning the competition in 2006 and 2007 respectively. The impact of Saturday’s X Factor Final is felt throughout this week’s chart, with Beyoncé the other main beneficiary: ‘If I Were A Boy’ climbs back to No2, ‘Listen’ is a re-entry at No12 and ‘Single Ladies’ climbs from No25 to No13. Meanwhile Jeff Buckley’s version of ‘Hallelujah’ returns to the chart at No9, having peaked at No19 in June last year. Outside the TV talent show bubble, this week’s highest new entry comes from Pat Shortt performing as Dixie Walsh with ‘Where Did My Money Go’ at No4, the follow up to his No1 hit ‘Jumbo Breakfast Roll’ - the best-selling single in Ireland in 2006. Take That take a second week at No1 on the Album Chart with ‘The Circus’, selling more copies over seven days than any album since Westlife’s ‘Love Album’ in Christmas Week 2006. The Priests hold at No2, ahead of Leona Lewis ‘Spirit’ at No3 and Beyoncé ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’, back up from No13 to No4. John Spillane climbs seven places from No14 to No7 with his ‘Irish Songs We Learned At School’, his second Top 10 album this year, following ‘My Dark Rosaleen & The Island Of Dreams’ which reached No6 back in May. The only other significant mover on this week’s chart is Josh Groban, who leaps from No28 to No13 with ‘A Collection’ – his third consecutive Christmas hit album, following ‘Awake’ in 2006 and ‘Noel’ in 2007. Shaky Fan's Commentary With 2 weeks to Christmas IRMA provided Denis Norden fans with a collection of c**k-ups on last week's album charts. The artist album chart saw a new entry at 45 for Ronan Collins - 40 Classic Irish Folk Hits. This was actually a compilation album which the radio presenter had lent his name too and should have appeared at 14 on the compilation chart meaning that everything IRMA listed between 45 and 100 actually should have been a place higher. The new no 100 was actually the previous week's 99 "Country Boy" by Daniel O'Donnell. Similarly everything at 14 or below on the compilation chart ended up a place lower meaning that Clubland Xtreme Hardcore 5 actually missed out on a Top 30 place - though it DID make it to number 23 this week! Oh and you can see the Christmas Charts here on the evening of the 24th.... assuming they are put on the Irma or chart-track sites! This year’s winner, Alexandra Burke, repeats the achievements of the previous two X-Factor victors and takes the coveted Christmas crown, as she holds onto the top spot with ‘Hallelujah’ for a second week. In the process she achieves the highest sales for a Christmas single in recent times as well as the second highest selling single of the year behind Sharon Shannon & Munday’s ‘The Galway Girl’. The Top 3 Albums in the Christmas Chart remain unchanged since last week with Take That holding on to the No1 position for a third week with ‘The Circus’ , The Priests self-titled album sticking at No2 and Leona Lewis’ ‘Spirit’ holding at No3. All three take their place in the Top 5 Albums of the year although none can quite match the might of the Kings Of Leon who take the prize for the best selling album of 2008 with ‘Only By The Night’, closely followed by The Script ‘s debut album at No2. Leona Lewis, Take That and The Priests fill positions 3, 4 & 5 respectively. Shaky Fan's Commentary That's almost it for 2008!
