Posted January 7, 200817 yr I love listening to the chart every week as I have done since 1981. I'm probably nit picking but Fearne and Reggie are doing my head in with silly chart inaccuracies. Last week Fearne "informed" us of Rihanna's "11" weeks at No. 1 and that Kate Nash reached No."3" with Foundations. A few weeks ago she also said that all of the Elvis Presley re-issues were on download only. (Almost all of his sales were physical) Last night Reggie enlightened us of the "fact" that Kate Nash reached No.1 with Foundations. I wonder why Radio 1 choose presenters who know (or care) little about the chart! Rant over!!!
January 7, 200817 yr They are only doing their job, surely they can't remember and know all about #01s etc :( Surely theres more important things to get annoyed over than a chart show. They're job is to announce the chart.

Hi Simon, Of course there are more important things to get annoyed over such as war, poverty, crime etc.... but this site is relevant to the chart and it would be better if Radio 1 could hire presenters who know what they're talking about!
January 7, 200817 yr Of course it's important. When you employ someone in a job they should know what they're doing and be able to give the correct information. It just proves that Radio 1's researches are awful and that JK & Joel weren't (well they were, but it proves the mistakes they constantly made weren't their fault). They should know what they're talking about and be knowledgeable about the charts. They should realise that songs on their 18th week are not 'in at' and Cliff Richard and Elvis entering the chart are not 'random'. They're completely out of their depth. Listening is painful.

Thanx RabbitFurCoat...Well said! :)
January 7, 200817 yr Thanks. I remember when Fearne said that Elvis charted each week as people would download a different song. WTF? That couldn't be any more incorrect.
January 7, 200817 yr What makes me laugh is that theres always one of them off Last week reggie this week fearne

January 7, 200817 yr Author There really poor presenters Scott mills i say to present the chart show I'd even go as far as saying bring back Mark Goodier!!!! :)
January 7, 200817 yr If they are going to take on a chart show, they should really do their homework and research the artists before blahing it on air, I find it annoying especially when Reggie said Foundations was a #1 track yesterday, but it will never be the same as Mark Goodier & Bruno Brooks they were great and gave out information about the artist. They will never find the right DJ for the job

They will never find the right DJ for the job I didn't listen to the chart yesterday, i was listening to the Real Radio Album chart counted down by Gary Davies. Now there's a good chart presenter, he used to stand in for Bruno Brookes back in the day. And he was the first DJ to play Radiohead...something i only learnt recently.

I've since had the chance to listen to his early chart shows and they were excellent.
January 7, 200817 yr the funniest JK & Joel mistake was when they said Gwen Stefani climbed 27 places to 8 with the sweet escape. it had been number 10 the week before  I know researchers do it for them but you'd think they'd at least remember what had been in the top 10 the week before.
