I say it`s not the music, that is in the chart that makes it boring, to listen too. But the way chart shows are now presented whether Cotton/Yates, JK and Joel, Lucio, even the ageing teenage once known as Foxy on Capital. All of them manage/or have managed to rabbit too much, on the shows no wonder they make mistakes, overactive mouths with out thought/research. I am only 24 recently I listened to some old presenters on tape from my Grandad and the people who presented the chart then seemed to shut up and play the music, with just small facts before/after songs. Most djs stated "that was, this is" with statements such as "up to, down at, straight in at" with various sound effects, and jingles like "num - ber thir - dy four" Shame the jingles didn`t sound the Ts, but it was a fast paced show, with a dynamic sounding entusiatic presenter.

On a sidenote, you also have to blame the public for downloading the stupid c**p song for the past 18 weeks plus for example Scouting For Girls -She's So Lovely and many others Umbrella etc etc etc, I'm not getting at Rihanna 's fans here, come on, would you keep the bloody same single in the charts for 30 weeks plus.

Stop downloading the c**p songs again and again, its getting old we don't want to hear it every week. For once listen to decent music. Its getting repetitive.

yeah i dont understand why people do this esp when the parent album goes down in price after like 18 weeks anyway - isnt it just cheaper and easier to get that?

Downloads are the work of the devil, they screwed the chart up since the Jan 2007 rule change.

The singles charts have been sh*t more than ever, they mean nothing to me now, and people who think they are the be all or end all of of an artists carrer are thick.

I agree with the idea of the chart representing what people are buying, and not what people are buying that is allowed to chart, but it's getting just stupid that all these old tracks bounce back, or 2 year old songs such as "Chasing Overplay" refusing to bud off is just not needed.

They should call it the tracks chart now.

I think that downloads should still have only be included, when there was also a physical release available, to buy as well, like the 2006 ruling. It was slightly better. If people want to download old songs, then they should be disqualified, if there is no physical single version available, and that goes for album tracks, as well.

i thought having any downloads would be a good idea - because people could find anythin g on the internet and think its great and download it - but it obv look like a 'if everyone else has got it, why dont i' mentality fuel by dull playlists

dont think it bothers whether its physical or downloads its the fact of getting those people exposed to many other things but not getting them too mindblown by loads and loads of things,

they should have a recurrents chart like in the states.

That genre being US urban which personally I can't stand.

Fair enough however...

After THIS quote:

I'm not racist because I used to like US black music from the days of Motown and Soul as they were then singers. I just don't like Hip Hop (rap) as it's just talking to a beat and today's R&B is all sung on about 3 notes.

Your comments are quite laughable, especially when you defend yourself for not being racist when you consider US urban "black" and after this paragraph I stopped reading because you're "insight" is very limited on this genre of music.

I prefer the charts since all songs counted as it accurately refects what the public are buying - hardly any silly exclusion rules. I think the internet is saving the charts at the mo.

but its still giving a distorted view of what is popular - like the hoosiers last single - is that a popular hit single or not?? it didnt debut in the top 75 last week - but why should people buy it again if they've previously got the same sound file for free / on the album - theyre not gonna pay 79p again to get it now.

and why in this so call multicultural nation - are all the songs mostly of a western pop nature - if bollywood films get in the uk and ireland top ten b.o. charts - and there all these asian stations in the uk - surely there should be some hindipop hits now and agin esp if sales are suppose to be v low - surely these sales are going missing and are underground - so the chart is not fully representive of the uk

Well, its not 100% inclusive, but I am sure it is moving forward to be as inclusive as possible.

airplay?? recurrents chart? breakers??

airplay?? recurrents chart? breakers??

Airplay is a no-no as it does not count as buying a song.

but obv most of the downloads are based on repetition on airplay - playing the same nickelback / adele rrecord for the next year over and over again - if people hear it loads they will like sheep buy it in the end just so they have it - actually airplay now might level it out in favour of other acts.
