Remember earlier this year it was said that Melanie C's old Red Girl albums were going to be re-released again in October?

Still quite weird that they havent at all been released yet...

Obviously it is Mel C so we shouldnt expect anything new in these editions, but I am looking for a new Reason cd as mine is really damaged from time and I would like to replace it...

Any clues?

Weren't they re-uploaded on streaming/download sites with not-so-good scanned covers? I get the impression some of the original cover pictures have been lost with her old management...

I mean there are literally tons of them on the internet right!?

It seems that Melanie has cut ties with 100% Stores. :cheer:

MelanieC.net's official store is now run by Music Glue, who were also operating it during the Version of Me era.

Good news! It seems she should have stayed with Music Glue in the first place.

Even with 20% off, I'm still resisting the 3LP book. Half price and I will consider it, Mel... :heehee:

The 20% off is only for merchandise items. The 3LP book is still full price, as far as I'm aware.

The way that 100% have been totally shit...

Someone on Spice Circle also mentioned a court case about it (think it was Chris but cant remember) so she clearly was pissed off, and rightly so. I hope they indeed had to cover up any loss of earnings for the way they handled it all. A mess!

^ Here it is for those who missed it:

Thanks for posting! I know I should get over it but I still feel wary of watching her live chats in case I'm triggered by the mention of a certain orange person.

Rest assured, the leaker isn't mentioned in the Christmas Q&A. ;)

Sure, sorry I havent the time now to do a proper one, but here is a breakdown of what I remember:

- There was a shit ton of connection issues lol no orange man insight from what I remember so dont worry Jay

- The street teams have started and she wants everyone to support them (doesnt say how lol)

- James Corden was her first streamed performance and she ioved it. Colour in Light was her fav performance this year.

- Colour and Light gives a bit of a template of what to expect from the tour.

- Into You will have a music video. She has fake tan in it and there will be lots of skin in the video. It is directed by the same guy who did Fearless (Greg something...)

- Goodbye is her favourite Spice Christmas single. Even though she acknowleges that 2 Become 1 is everyone's favourite and she sings it more often (Personally, I think she is correct in this too. I think Goodbye is the better song out of the 3, although they are all special and the only reason Goodbye kind of suffers, in my eyes, is because it is too linked to the sadness of Geri leaving and everyone thinking that the title means they are saying goodbye as a band forever lol).

- Look out for her popping up in a few places over the next few months

- Look out for news about the tour in January (most probably postponed for later in the year, judging by the horribleness of the state of the UK)

- She got teary talking about the cancelation of the Christmas plans due to the UK gov f***ing up (Good! The more vocal she is about this, the better!)

- Emma is the most Christmasy person she knows, but Mel also liked to get into the Christmas spirit as usually people are a bit more thoghtful and kind

- She mentioned she is very happy with the album and how it was received by the public and critics, great airplay. She strongly hinted that the the Melanie C album will be heavily featured on the tour since it got such great reception.

- She will be working on new music into 2021 as no-one is sure when touring can happen again (extra hint for the tour announcement really)...

^ She also said that she would like to record a Christmas song (be it an original or a cover). :cheer:

Culture Interrupted: 2020 devastated the arts - can young musicians survive the blow?

https://news.sky.com/story/culture-interrup...e-blow-12166157

Melanie C:

"To have a period of life where you can't go, you can't enjoy music, you can't share that experience not only as an artist, with your fans, but as a music fan with the artists that you love.

"I think it makes me feel like there is this big gap, this big hole that is being created in my lifetime.

"What if it [the pandemic] happened in the '90s... I don't know what would have happened to the Spice Girls. Would we still have had the same journey? Would pop culture still have the same history?"

"To have lost a year, to have lost two years, what does that mean? What does that mean to younger artists who are just starting out?" asks Melanie C.

(The link also has a short clip of Melanie talking about the controversial government "retrain" adverts)

Gotta say, I've really appreciated Melanie C over the last couple of years taking on social issues in a very progressive way!

She has really stepped up to support the LGBTQ+ community and even manage to not make it all abour herself. This, at a time when homeophobia and particularly transphobia are so vile and dangerous in the UK, is a much welcomed development. I remember my non-binary and trans flatmates being so happy that she got the Trans and non-Binary flag out during her Brighton Pride gig  And she consistently supports us, even after all this time and into the promo for the album this year! Proper ally!

And her activism in the state of the arts industry as a result of UK Gov mishandling the culture sector shutting down, has been great to see and much needed visibility for the industry. It's great to have someone of her profile advocating for better support not only for artists but also crew members. Plus, she also is giving light to the impact in the sector without making it about herself (a very privileged musician, considering!), which is great and I wsh more celebrities and pop starts would follow suit!

She has really turned a corner, I think, in recent years and good for her. We love a talented AND socially conscious Spice!

A lot of it is the same answers as usual but here are some interesting things/main takes that are quite revealing.

- She went to the theatre recently

- Melanie C album campaign and tour will go into late 2021 and into 22 due to current issues with touring. She wants to continue to make and put out music in the meantime.

- The tracks in the Delux are the result of them being in the studio during lockdown and she refused to make music about COVID, so they dreamt about being out, having fun and Ibiza.

- She prefers to perform live rather than the studio (although she says she loves both)

- Most memorable boost as a solo artist: NBTSA being #1

- She prefered the Too Much video over the Who I Am one :arrr:

- She would like to have a current DJ do a new remix of I Turn To You (I agree!)

- She prefers You'll Get Yours to Reason (which was surprising as she always talked so highly of Reason and this is the first time I hear her talk about YGY)

- She would love to do new music with the Spice Girls for Bond and also for the new animated movie. She would be up for both :w00t:

- She would scrap Do It from last year's tour and also would rather not perform On The Horizon ('it isnt me').

- Who I Am is the song that most represents her. Northern Star is a big part of her though.

- She wishes to continue to make music and touring both as a solo artist and as a Spice Girl (her own words!! :yahoo: :cheer: :o )

- LOOK OUT FOR A BOOK!! She strongly hinted at it, saying she would love to do one in the future. She says she can see herself doing one.

- Tour is most definitely postponed to later in the year

- Hopefully some festivals next year

- Lots of new music, busy 2021!
