January 15, 200817 yr But there is and everybody knows it - its always going to be there between fans of GA and SB though. Ok Sugababes had a massive hit with AYN but Change didnt exactly set the charts alight did it. Idont think they qualify for group of the year just single of the year for AYN.
January 15, 200817 yr Well I like both Sugababes and Girls Aloud, but if I was held at gunpoint and asked to pick between the two I wouldn't hesitate to say Girls Aloud... why is there this endless debate anyway? Both have achieved success in different areas and are not really comparable IMO. The only similarity is that they're both girl bands. Sugababes do better on the charts because they release 'commercial' pop that appeals to everyone, something that Girls Aloud don't do with their electro edge and I've accepted that anyway, but Girls Aloud have probably recieved more critical recognition but also have been extremely successful. People should just accept that everyone has a different opinion And they are definitely not talentless btw. :blink:
January 15, 200817 yr I think the only real achievement for the sugababes this year was About you now and like someone said, that is up for best single so its pretty fair if you ask me. The credit is going to the right category.

January 15, 200817 yr Another achievement not being the 2nd #01 album then.Yeah it went no.1 on a quiet week, but it hasnt really produced good singles (apart from AYN), thats why i dont think they should be nominated for best group. I know were meant to be stopping the whole debate but remember in '07 GA announced their biggest tour yet, released another top 10 dvd, another platinum album, two top 10 singles and became the faces of Samsung and Sunsilk - thats why they're up for best group and the Suga's arent. Ok, then we compare/add GA's 2nd arena tour and third announced with over 21 dates and playing to over 200k people (remember Suga's had to announce theatre's this year), GA's no.1. GA became the first girlband to have 16 consecutive top 10's, presented and performed on The Friday Night Project, performed on Top Of The Pops Xmas Special and 'Call The Shots' equalled the HUGE 'SOTU' most weeks in the top 10. Im not saying Suga's arent more successfull all round as GA, they are - but this year i really fo think GA have been the band of the year compared to Sugababes.

All i am trying the say is that IMO the reason why Sugababes werent nominated for best group and GA are is because in '07 they achieved more and that was what was brought up in the first post by the mod. All I have to say is both bands deserve to win each award, they both deserve some recognition, both even more than they currently have tbh.
January 15, 200817 yr But f1mad (sorry i dont know your name), the majority of the achievements you listed there were because of AYN. The no1, the being top of download/airplay chart, the first group to go no1 on download and thats what i was saying, thats why they should be nominated for best song and not best group. Especially when you think their album has sold much less than their previous albums like TIMW and angels and didnt their second single change miss the top 10? I dont think its healthy atall to compare girls aloud and the sugababes but i am just trying to explain maybe why the sugababes werent nominated, i am not trying to undermine them. Girls aloud have been huge competition for anyone this year.
