Yet he still stuck 2 fingers up to those very same people that cheer for him by leaving Britain for tax exile in Switzerland, those that cheered him today pay tax that keep the services of this country running, their idol pays nothing into the economy even though he earns £50m a year so as far as I am concerned he is a Swiss driver

And McLaren isn't British either, it was founded by a Kiwi and is 40% owned by a German car manufacturer, 30% by the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, 20% by a Lebanese watch tycoon and 10% by Ron Dennis, McLaren are based in Britain but only 10% British

So as far as I am concerned it is a Swiss driver driving for a German team

You're just searching for any excuse to bring him down now

It's no question about how brilliant he was today and how Kimi and Massa have a very entertaining battle on their hands in the coming months :cheer:

well f*** me.

piqet 2nd.

not even in my wildest dreams did i think he'd finish let alone in the points or on a podium.

Vettel = Scum

and kovy really should have put up more of a fight

Great Race today

Lewis is growing in confidence in every race

Wooooooo

I wouldn't have begrudged Piquet if he won that race! He's been unlucky imo but great to see Lewis win two in a row and nice to see the replay from Canada again which basically proved my theory that he tried to avoid both of them as there was no clear track to his right, if he tried to cheat like people suggest here then why didn't he smack DIRECTLY into Kimi giving him more chance of taking him out? Though saying that he deserved the penalty as he should have been aware of the red light.

Back on topic it wasn't a good race for Kimi today and considering he's most likely to challenge Lewis for the title that was quite a lot of points to lose today.

Very great race, Nick have a luck in SC period and he been very quick after SC. Very happy because he made second fast lap in career. :cheer:

Congrats to Lewis he is, intangible!

i think kovy massa and kubica could all have attempted to put up a fight instead of rolling over and letting the dick past.

maybe then piquet could have had a chance at winning.

very glad he made it to the podium :cheer: it's about time he finished a race in a reasonable position

I agree with Tims earlier post. Imagine Hamilton blamed the British public and media for making him leave the country when actually the real reason was becuase he wanted tax free income. I HATE him.

Also he has been managed, funded, coached and prepared for this for years by the McLaren team. He did not come from nowhere to be this good. He has more surrport than anyone else. Also why are people up for a cheating team who were disqualified only last year? Since then I cannont believe one word that comes out of Ron Dennis mouth.

Also last week Hamilton says Nadal has inspired him to win the Championship. What exactly has Lewis got to do with tennis. He is just trying to associate himself with other sports people to bring himself into the same category. Hes has nothing got to do with Nadal.

While I am on a moan I should also say that I HATE the ITV coverage of F1. Its like the Lewis Hamilton show. Do they not realise that there are thousands of people in the UK connected, working for, fans of the other teams. Not everyone wants Lewis to win all the time. The sooner it moves to BBC the better.

On a more positive note I would love Kimi, Massa, Alonso, Button, Kubica and others to do well for the remainder of the season.

welcome to buzzjack!!!

great post :w00t:

Ron Dennis is a slimy creature. this years McLaren is unusually quick. its uncharacteristic of them to be quick 2 seasons in a row.

2003 - kimi nearly won, 2004 - they were $h!te

2005 - they fought us(Renault) all the way to the last race, 2006 - they went backwards, and fast.

2007 - got caught cheating after their car magically closed a big gap to Ferrari

2008 - still up there? the McLaren is nowt more than a Ferrari with a mercedes engine <_<

and as for ITV, they show w*n**r-boy's part of the press conference but when they are just away to start on Piquet with his first EVER podium its "tough $h!t watch online" and then continue to lick w*n**r-boy's arse.

OMG thats exactly what I thought! I was only watching to see what Piquet would say after his first ever podium and they cut after talking to Hamilton for 5 minutes. SO ANNOYING. The interesting thing to any F1 fan would be to hear what someone had to say on their best EVER finish not some t*** in a cheating team winning his 'best ever victory' again. ITV has c**p coverage of F1 its so biased.

PhillyWilly, you are a Renault fan then?

i am indeed, Alonso all the way!!

and until yesterday i was hoping piquet was going to be sacked like trulli so we could reclaim kovy from the darkside

I'm pleased for Piquet, just because it gives him a hope of beating Alonso in the championship! :D

Hamilton did drive really well yesterday, and although I only watched the highlights it doesn't surprise me that they were biased again. Though it's hardly surprising, neither is it that much worse than when Jenson Button had a half decent car underneath him, they spoke to his dad more than they speak to Antony Hamilton!

ITV's coverage of ALL sports has always been appallingly jingoistic as long as I have been alive to watch TV.

It does not matter in the past whether they've covered the Olympics, the Rugby & Football World Cups, Motor Racing, etc, they've always been the same back to the days of Dickie Davies and World Of Sport & Saint and Greavsie & The Big Match.

Just be greatful they never got hold of covering Wimbledon when Tim Henman was around.

At least the BBC does attempt some degree of neutrality, even if it is still naturally more interested in the British interests.

So far this season seems to be the opposite of last season, as this year Ferrari clearly have had the superior car but have failed to make it count as they are both battling each other in the Championship and making mistakes, despite Hamilton himself throwing away three races in the first third of the season driving not as well as he did last season in the same period.

With Santander (who've had a long history of sponsoring a certain Spanish driver) going to change sponsorship from McLaren to Ferrari it is only natural that the least surprising speculation from last year of Alonso being in a Ferrari in 2009 has grown again (Especially as it has been well documented that he has a one year get out clause with Renault). The main question on the paddock being whether Raikkonen (who seems like a lot of past Champions, once finally achieving their lifetime goal, seems to have lost some of his hunger this season) will throw in the towel a year early on his contract or the resurgent Massa (who drives in the wet weather as if he is driving on ice) will partner Alonso next year. Or maybe they'll get Kubica (but the Spaniard driver seems to have a problem with team mates who out drive him (as he proved again yesterday with his curt response regarding the quite brilliant drive by Piquet Jr), so that would surely rule him out.

The irony of this season is if all the drivers were driving an identical car then Kubica would be comfortably leading the Championship by now.

At least the BBC does attempt some degree of neutrality

John Motson, cough cough  Easily the most biased comentator of all time. In every match he always managed to mention 1966 an all that

After not being interested in Formula One for a fair number of years, probably because I believed I had "grew out of it", this season I've decided to start watching again.

Although not the greatest fan of Hamilton's attitude, I still believe he is probably one of the most talented British drivers for a number of years, of course people will say "He has the best car and that is why he is in front" but his performance on Sunday showed to me personally that he is extremely talented. After a massive tactical c**k-up by McClaren, he managed to close a decent gap on Massa/Piquet to win the race. Especially as most people would have written him off.

Alonso will struggle to win another Championship I think, honestly he will struggle to ever get the right team, especially as he will need to settle in. His attitude is also questionable at best, he doesn't like competition within his own team, so that means he will hate Ferrari (the only team really capable of getting close to McLaren). Massa will do well to mature even more as a racing driver if he is to have any chance of winning anything over the course of the season.

The real star this season for me, like for others has definitely got to be Kubica. With a decent car, he could definitely be the first ever Polish Formula One World Champion. I've been disappointed with Bourdais, especially as he came into F1 as a ChampCar champion, just shows how different American racing is. Thought he would excel more than he has, especially seeing his team-mate Vettel outshining him in nearly every race.

Another thing is the people complaining about the "licking of the w*n**rboy's arse" (to use Philly's quote directly). As TiP says, isn't that the same with any form of media today? Most newspapers love a "national hero". A solitary individual to salute, if Murray was to look like winning Wimbledon, it'd be the same. This is the British Media we're talking about, you have to get to the Populist media era we live in.

Whereas I do agree with the praise for Kubica because he has been amazing I think it speaks volumes about how well Heidfeld has done and how good a driver he really is when he's only 7 points out despite the car and the team clearly favouring Kubica. Ok he's been lucky like this weekend, but that was tactics too. And he was really unlucky in Spain, after driving another great race was about to run out of fuel as the safety car came out and as a result recieved a 10 second penalty for having to pit and thus ending his chances of scoring any points!

I know there's almost zero chance but he really does deserve a top drive in either Ferarri or McLaren. Every year bar one (and so far this year too) he's beaten his team-mate in the Championship and apart from once they've all been people who've previously achieved more than he had (Alesi, Villeneuve), people who've gone on to get top drives (Raikkonen, Massa) and higher rated 'Next Big Things' (Webber, Kubica).

Do they $h!te.

Santander never sponsored Alonso at Renault. Telefonica threw the strop when Alonso left Renault, McLaren obtained Santander because of Alonso moving there
