McFly have decided that they want to leave their record label, according to a report.

Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd are in Australia recording the last album that they are expected to release under their current deal with Island Records.

The lads are said to be "tired of being a boy band" and wish to find a label which will give them the freedom to change their image.

A source told The Sun: "The boys feel they have outgrown the company. Label chiefs have plans for them they disagree with. They are tired of being a boy band.

"They want to be recognised for their songwriting and being more than just a teen act. The time in Australia has given them a chance to put together their battle plan. They are all really excited about the idea of being free to make their own decisions about their future."

Do you think they are right to move on, or not?

this should see the end of them all going well

If you can't post anything positive don't bother.

Clearly everyone agreeing with each other would do this discussion forum a world of good :nocheer:

Best of luck to them ^_^ I always like the odd track by them, will be hard for them to outdo Obviously for me :kink:
Well if Mcfly 'grow up' then hopefully will some of their fans...

As long as they're less cheesy (less star girl/bad covers more heart never lies) and stop caring about going to number 1 and having 3 week chart runs, I'd be happy. But I'm afraid no one will ever see them as anything but a boyband.

Oh, and less saying about how their lyrics are genius and how much respect they deserve  Please!

good for them.

I'm Happy For Them.

For Ages Now They Have Been Unhappy With The Way Their Record Label Has Been Treating Them And They Need To Grow As A Band.

Good Luck To Them =]

I tend to agree with Shameless, I can't see them being anywhere near as big with another label.

good luck to them,

wherever they end up, as long as they STOP the begging to fans to buy every possible format, by text, email, MySpace and whatever else, then they may get some more credibility and recognition ^_^

Does this mean that they'll start swearing? (Just a thought - I can't really see it happening.)

I am surprised they are doing another album after the relatively moderate success of their greatest hits and previous albums.

Surely now they've hit out at their current record label, the r/c won't do all the 3 cds thing they normally do, and with downloads taking up 96% of single sales now, McFly will have to comeback with something more than good to get in the top 10.

I actually think their label has done them wonders considering they seem to make it to #1 without actually selling anything - and going independent i'm guessing will do them harm
