Though journalistic shorthand often finds Nickelback dubbed "the Canadian Creed", the band found success on its own terms right from the start with the 2000 debut album THE STATE. It may be true that the band's heavy guitars, pounding drums, and dramatic vocals are in line with the Creed approach, but like that band, Nickelback is equally indebted to the heavy metal and hard rock heroes of the '70s. As with many other 21st century heavy rockers, though, Nickelback fits catchy pop sensibilities into their sonic onslaught, ensuring as enthusiastic a reception from radio as they receive from their rabid fanbase. - HMV

shut up already, chad!

Btw, Call The Shots is now their most successful single chart-wise, it beats the run of SOTU in the Top40 :o

How is it their most successful? It hasn't even come close to the sales of SOTU...

And if you mean chart run-wise, then yes, but that means nothing. Sales are the measure of success.

It means alot - chart run plus sales equate to the success of a song, imo.

and even chart-run wise you cant compare. Most of the songs released in 2007 and 2008 would be a lot more successful than the biggest hits of 1997-2002, but the charts were a lot different then and fast moving, with 15-20 new entries in the top40 a regular thing.

Straight out of Nefyn, North Wales, (Aimee Anne) Duffy's smoky retro-soul has earned her comparisons with Dusty Springfield. Voted the second hottest new talent in the BBC's 'Sound for 2008' poll after fellow soul girl Adele, her debut album ROCKFERRY features Bernard Butler (Suede, McAlmont & Butler) as performer and co-writer. - HMV

Sod it, with all the clap trap on the radio we have the official top 40 for this week.
i love 'mercy', i have loved the 2 number ones of 2008 so farand hope this run continues...but i fear it wont, something generic, american and rubbish will ruin it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gosh calm down. I did only mean to point out the fact it's their longest run in the top40... Sorry if I use the wrong word, I thought "chart-wise" was the good word, but even if not, there is nothing to get mad at really

the words 'nickleback' and 'great record' should never be used in the same sentence
