Posted March 1, 200817 yr http://www.4cheapcds.com/redImages/large/615682.jpg I had some free time ;)... I'm doing this because I'm amazed by the success of this album and the way it has become a multi-million seller. Amy Winehouse's Back to Black started its chart run in late 2006. At that time, the album was released in the UK and sold around 230,000 copies. But nobody could have forseen the future of this album... Scandals, drugs, media attention and obviously great reviews started to increase the amount of publicity the album was getting... Having already sold 230,000 in the UK, the album sales started to increase by the day... So How did the album do in 2007??? According to mediatraffic (which is not 100% accuarate but it's a good indicator)... Back to Black was the best selling album of 2007 with sales aprox. to 5,510,000. People might have thought this was the end of that era... but well... taking a look at 2008... the album might be on its way to becoming a 10 million-seller. So far this are its sales (2008). Week 1 - 387,000 Week 2 - 241,000 Week 3 - 141,000 Week 4 - 118,000 Week 5 - 116,000 Week 6 - 122,000 Week 7 - 125,000 Week 8 - 140,000 Week 9 - 290,000 Week 10 - 235,000 Expect this week's sales to be around 190K - 200K That would put its 2008 sales at around 2,125,000 Back to Black Worldwide sales stand at 7,865,000 With her recent success at the Grammys (expect a deluxe edition in the US and Europe)... 2,5 million albums in 2008 don't seem so difficult... What do you think??? **Sales are taken from mediatraffic.com and Daved from Haven (UK's sales 2006) Edited March 1, 200817 yr by Alex aka $ktofi
March 1, 200817 yr without a doubt it will reach 10 million very soon... I will buy it as soon as it goes to a fiver or lower...I like the last 3 singles from it
March 1, 200817 yr Hmmmm... the only thing I don't understand, what everybody loves on this b!tch! She's nothing special, her music is totally average, also she is not the most talented artist at the moment!
March 1, 200817 yr Frankly I never liked her first album, pardon the pun, and I was never interested in her music, until Back To Black hit the shelves, but I waited till the middle of last year to buy her album, as I liked her singles, I just find the album very good, its one of those albums you got to have in your collection, just surprised it just keeps on selling bucketloads. Personally I can't stand the woman, musically wise she has the talented, but the way she is going in her personal life, I wish she gets help for it.
March 1, 200817 yr The album is just a TAD overatted, but her songwriting and emotive-voice makes it for me. ^_^

I personally much prefered her during the Frank era.
March 2, 200817 yr I bought 'Frank' over 4 years ago, at the time knowing virtually nothing about her, and it is probably my favorite album of all time. Unfortunately, bone-idol idiot journalists at the time branded her as nothing more than credible dinner party music! Clearly, they paid no attention to her amazing vocals and such unique style of song writing. It does seem somewhat bizarre that she is now been propelled into tabloid oblivion, something I am sure she never wished for. But it has to be said, 'Back To Black' is one amazing collection of genuinely great songs and I firmly believe she is worth every single little bit of praise and sale she gets. It's about time horrible album chart hoggers like James effing Blunt and bollocks like Dido made a move for something completely raw and uncompromising like the wino! She is riddled with issues and she bares all the hallmarks of a tragic person and can only hope she gets back on the straight and narrow! But everyone loves a Rock n Roll star, which of course has contributed to her success. 8 million copies is bloody brilliant! Edited March 2, 200817 yr by ScottyEm
