March 1, 200817 yr Or better still just opt out of the big 4, we will never win it again what's the point anymore, the voting always ends up political, or voting for neighbouring countries.
March 1, 200817 yr The worst thing about the BBC as well is that it is completely funded by tax payers. :manson: So yes, tax payers are paying for Andy Abraham to go out to Belgrade and make a complete t*** out of himself and make the country look bland and pathetic.
March 1, 200817 yr Or better still just opt out of the big 4, we will never win it again what's the point anymore, the voting always ends up political, or voting for neighbouring countries. Mikey. -_-
March 1, 200817 yr I agree about getting rid of Terry Wogan, he gets on my wick, he seemed way up his own arse tonight.
March 1, 200817 yr That's not my name -_- You will always be Mikey to me. GAHHHH. I'm still so pissed off at this whole situation. Three decent f***ing songs in the final and we go for the bland $h!t that is Andy Twattaham.

March 2, 200817 yr Don't put it in the hands of the same people who voted Leon Jackson to win X Factor, end of

Three decent f***ing songs in the final and we go for the bland $h!t that is Andy Twattaham. Two decent songs. I'm not fond of "Even If" either, but give me the Twattaham anyday before Michelle Gayle's recycled dross!
March 2, 200817 yr I don't think its political, we are just c**p  I totally agree. This will be the 6th year running we will have sent c**p to the ESC, which deserves to result in another bottom 6 result. To improve Britain's Song For Europe we should do the following: 1. Dump Terry Wogan and replace him with British TV & Radio presenter Paddy O'Connell (Radio 4 Broadcaster, BBC24 News presenter, BBC2's Working Lunch, formerly presenter on BBC3's Celebdaq & Liquid News) who is well-known for his laid back but incisive style, and deadpan delivery. He has also presented coverage of the ESC Semi Finals on BBC3 since 2004. 2. Go back to the successful format of having one good quality act (who you know won't put in a Jemini/Gina G out of tune style performance in the final) singing a selection of songs. 3. Get a panel of experts to choose the song to represent us at Eurovision. The Leon Jackson loving GBP cannot be trusted as they've proved for the sixth year running sending utter dross to the ESC Final. (Ireland sends a Turkey, we send a binman with a rubbish song, another waste of space.)

Martin :manson: I thought you knew better than that. We can win again, but we won't as long as we trust the 'great' British public :manson:

Terry Wogan has been $h!t ever since he started spouting his 'political bloc voting' rhetoric, but there's no way we'll let him go - he's too intrinsically linked with Eurovision, which is really why he ought to know better! :manson: Unfortunately, we'll be stuck with him until retirement. Why didn't we get The Pipettes to sing It's You? :( Hell, I'm sure even Michelle Gayle might've even delivered the 'goods' of a top 15 with her very memorable performance...
March 2, 200817 yr A - Ban the f***ing British public from voting B - Fire Terry Wogan C - Get rid of second-chances (e.g. wildcards) - if they weren't good enough to beat their opponent, they aren't good enough for Eurovision D - Internal selection E - Give it to f***ing ITV! F - Put me/David/Gooddelta/anybody with a clue whatsoever about Eurovision in charge of the UK preselection :smoke: All of these = a decent result once in a while? (sm) A- that does NOT make much sense. The public usually pick the best entry. This year being an exception, in part due to Andy's existing popularity. B- You might have a point here, although on the night he seemed to make sense. there seems no clear reason not to keep him. C- The idea of having wildcards is a good one. D- Internal selection would be aweful, this happened a few time before, with bad results. E- Well what would ITV do better? .... nothing perhaps. Having entries for Scotland/Wales etc might be of some use. F- Watching from a distance as the ESC voters do is good, the moment you get into a studio your perception is altered and bias starts to appears. What can be done...the real answer is to contact the BBC, Andy's team, and get him to drop out because he was only voted because of being known from X-Factor and not on the quality of the song. Saying that I'm sure there are some commercial interests in having him enter, a new album promotion no doubt.

D- Internal selection would be aweful, this happened a few time before, with bad results. The public hardly ever pick the best entry. In 2000, Six Chix were beaten my Nicki French, 2001 saw that hideous Lindsay Dracass song, 2003 we got stuck with Jemini, the second placed person that year was good, 2004 we got the bland and forgettable James Fox (but everyone was $h!t that year), in 2005 Javine appeared with a dated and bland attempt at an ethnic song - it pains me to say it but Katie Price would've done better - in 2006, although Daz had a catchy song, them two girls would've fared better and I don't need to even mention 2007. We picked a good song in 2002 and came third, our run of results would be much better following an internal selection, which I don't believe the UK has ever done before have we? Russia do it year after year and come forward with an absolute belter of a song.

Saying that I'm sure there are some commercial interests in having him enter, a new album promotion no doubt. A - Scooch? James Fox? Leon Jackson? 'Nuff said -_- B - He perpetuates the 'political voting' myth, someone of his calibre should really know better seeing as he is generally seen as the Eurovision guru in this country C - If they weren't good enough to beat their opposition originally, they aren't good enough to represent the UK D - We've never used internal selection before! :P It really ought to be clear by now that the British public has NO idea whatsoever what a Eurovision song is E - ITV would actually invest money in the event as it would be optional for them to have it - BBC only have the event by proxy F - An internal selection would just be a panel of judges in front of the performance, with the worst tracks filtered out prior to the auditions. It's fairly obvious what's a good song and performance! Having a panel of judges who have a very good idea of what would work at Eurovision as opposed to just 3 would also filter out individual bias. What on earth would the BBC do? If they didn't drop Scooch last year, they won't drop Andy.

I agree, Katie Price would have done better, though 2003, 2004 and 2005's song selections were awful...2006's best song was Daz Sampson but yes I was actually rooting for City Chix at the time (which had reached my top ten just before the national selection)...great pop song that I still listen to now... the UK public just don't like 'Chix'
March 3, 200817 yr Had the BBC just gone ahead and sent Cyndi last year and The Revelations/Michelle Gayle/Simona Armstrong this year, we'd be doing far better. send 3 entries? Surely the EBU would notice! Would we be doing far better? I have grave reservations.
