Muse looking to score with Wembley appearance

Muse are facing a close battle with Duffy as they aim to secure the first UK number one with a live album since Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Live In Hyde Park nearly four years ago.

The band’s Helium 3/Warner Bros CD/DVD package HAARP, which captures their concert at Wembley Stadium last June, is presently just a few hundred sales ahead of A&M/Polydor act Duffy’s Rockferry, according to midweek sales figures.

The Muse album leads one of the busiest weeks of the year so far with new releases with seven albums realistically likely to debut inside the Top 20 this coming Sunday. They include Elbow’s Fiction/Polydor debut The Seldom Seen Kid and Polydor act Bryan Adam’s 11, both of which are vying for top five debuts, Mike Oldfield’s UCJ-issued Music Of The Spheres and Virgin act We Are Scientists’ Brain Thrust Mastery. Other new entries to the chart are set to come from Exile/Polydor’s Van Morrison and 4th & Broadway/Island act Taio Cruz.

Duffy, whose album spent a second week at one last Sunday, is also facing a threat to her singles crown with Estelle’s Atlantic debut single American Boy, which features Kanye West, one of two close challengers. Also vying to replace Duffy’s Mercy at number one is Syco/Sony BMG’s Leona Lewis double A-side Better In Time/Footprints In The Sand.

Girls Aloud are likely to extend their perfect run of Top 10 hits to 17 with the Fascination/Polydor-issued Can’t Speak French on course to rise from its current chart position of 20. Panic At The Disco’s Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen-issued single Nine In The Afternoon, which debuted at 13 last week, is also looking to move into the Top 10 this coming weekend.

In contrast to the albums chart, only a few new entries are set to penetrate the Top 40, among them Polydor act the Guillemots with Get Over It and Warner Bros signings The Enemy with This Song Is About You.

NO MIDS FOR FRIDAY

SORRY FOR ANY DISTRESS CAUSED

Duffy won't be No.1 again...it will be Estelle...and if not today certainly by the end of the week! Girls Aloud and Panic should go top ten though Sugababes might just miss out...hard to call this week
I reckon in todays MW Leona will be number 1, Duffy 2 and Estelle 3... however Estelle will prob climb to the top by the end of the week
I forgot about Estelle and Madonna on downloads, Estelle will probably have the edge.

estelle will be #1 by the end of week

hopefully Girls Aloud and Sugababes will get top 5 but i doubt they'll both get in

i think GA and Sugas will get top 10!

Should look like this:

1- Estelle

2- Madonna (Yuck)

3- Duffy

4- Leona

and so on!!!!!!

Estelle and Madonna will form the top2 by the end of the week, in which order I don't know. Estelle's No1 on itunes but Madonna is already #19!

Madonna is already #19!

:cheer: :o :yahoo: its got #1 written all over it unfortunately

I'm glad it looks as though the top 10 will have a shake up... its been quite boring and static for quite a while now.... it needs shifting around
I hate how some acts get playlisted straight away on r1, it'll be a rubbish video, no promo and yet easily go to no1 - just becoz its madonna and crew.
It will be interesting to see how Madonna's new single does, her first since the new download rules.

I don't think Madonna's new single will register on today's mids, it be well funny if the #1 changes all week. Duffy today, Estelle tomorow, Madonna Thursday
However much i dislike the song, i still think its a good idea to have legal downloads straight after the premiere.
