I was looking at the top selling albums of all time as listed on everyhit.com, and nestled amongst all the expected massive sellers was Now 44. This is the only one of the series to be on the list, in fact it seems to be the only such compilation on it altogether, and I just wondered if anyone has any explanation as to what its appeal was? Circa 1999, so hardly a classic musical year!

Everyone said the world was gonna end on 31/12/99, so they decided to get it so that they could have a Now CD in their collection.

(Jess should point out that this is just a theory, and that she didn't think the world wouldn't see 2000.)

I have 27, 33, 34, 35, 41 to 50, 52 to 61, 63, 65 to 68.

I have all in CD except 34 and 35 that I have on tape.

I think Now 44 was so big because it had most of the year's biggest sellers on there. Eiffel 65, Britney, Lou Bega, Shania Twain...Shania and Britney should have been cleared in time for Now 43 but for some reason they weren't

My collection:

Vinyl: 1-4, 6-10, 12-16, 18, Smash Hits, Summer, Christmas, Dance 86, Dance 4, Dance 901, Dance 902 Tape: 1-63, 1983-1995, Christmas CD: Now '86, 13, 16, 18-69, Decades, Millennium 1984, 1985, 1986, Now Years, Smash Hits

I have Now 26 and that's it which includes Boom! Shake The Room   technically that was my first album before I bought Spiceworld by the Spice Girls a few years later  One of my older brothers also gave me Now 23 as well though :D

I'd love to know how long it has to take to clear songs to appear on them - BOMT was released in February, and TDIMM was released in May. 43 came out in July.
