And I don't even like them...

I dunno how the OCC will look at this trick though

As far as I'm concerned it is no difference then a dance/r'n'b record with 6 difference remixes, however this is much better as you can download these tracks then go to Radiohead's website and download a software package so you can make your own remixes.

To be honest I'm astonished that no dance act has tried this concept before, but maybe that genre is so creatively bankrupt than it was at its peak that no one has had the vision to try this out.

In short for the second time within 6 months Radiohead should be applauded for being the visionary act that they are interacting with the record buying consumer.

iTunes popularity bars:

If you add up the popularity bars from all the different versions of the Radiohead song, they're on the verge of overtaking Estelle at No 1

I agree, is it really any different to Roisin Murphy currently having 8 different versions of her current single available? Or Robyn having about 11 last summer? No. The only difference is that Radiohead are actually selling.

Well imo its different then remixes. Your essentially buying different bits of the same song really. Downloading the drums, then the bass, then the vocals, etc, should equal buying 1 whole song. If this continues, the biggest winners in the future will be the ones who have most instruments and backup singers in their songs...

Most dance records at the moment are 90s remakes or sample something from the 90s, plus the originals from the 90s are remakes or samples of something from the 70s or 80s, so I'm guessing clearance would be a nightmare :).

Most "crossover" hits are, there are plenty of good original dance songs that never see the light of day. And if you think the majority of dance songs of the 90s sampled something then you clearly didnt listen to dance music back then because it was when the genre was at its creative peak.

It's pointless what Radiohead are doing... you can't import the files into any remixing program anyway, unless you burn them to disc first, it looks slightly desperate imo.

Definitely. Their last one flopped hence why they resorted to this trick imo

Do you honestly think RADIOHEAD, of all bands, care about chart position?

And you have to download a piece of software from their website to get it to work, it's far from pointless, it's great! I wish I actually liked them, tbh... -_-

I was referring to what you hear on the radio now.

And yes, I did listen to dance music back then, and yes it was better than it is now, but there were still a lot of samples back then :).

They're all listed under itunes Plus, which means you can do anything with them doesn't it? Im not too familiar with itunes plus

Well why else have they release each instrument seperately. They could have made a package and had it album only so you had to buy the whole the thing, that would look less desperate.

And fair enough about the remixing softwere :P

Just means they're higher quality than your avergae iTunes track :)

I REALLY want Radiohead to get as high as possible, just to see the future impact this release has on the charts

It agree with this, knowing the OCC they'll ban it. <_<

No dance acts do release lots of remixes but the fans will probably not download them all, unlike Radiohead. I really don't find it fair at all
