The Dr. Who Weekly thread is back :cheer:

The Time: 6:20pm The Place: BBC1

Later on in the series Dr. Who will clash with the Euro Football Championships which will be transmitted on ITV, as BBC1 have no plans to show any football this time round. Let's hope the early slot does not have a huge effect.

 OMG :o ROSE

Rose's reality is collapsing, apparently :o

Anyway, I thought that was a great episode - Donna is much more natural to me than Martha, and it was quite comedic at times (and not entirely releated to Catherine Tate - not in a bad way anyway)

8/10 for me.

Anyhow, my comments on tonight's episode, it was a bit light hearted, a lot of comedy moments especially when they were both ducking and diving in the office  It was an enjoyable episode overall 7/10 to kick off Season 4.
I loved it and my mouth dropped to the floor when i saw Rose. I mean i knew that she was coming back and didn't expect to see her so soon

i definetly enjoyed the episode more this time round because there wasn't the whole establishing the relationship between new assisstant and the doctor, so i really think it has worked bringing back donna as the companion for this series.

i loved sarah lancashire's character, played brilliantly!!!!

overall, very good episode, and even better for that unexpected twist seeing rose in the firsty episode, i wonder if these means she might appear on other stories set on earth????

8.5/10

I literally just peed myself with excitement when I saw Rose :w00t:

I thought it would end up being someone else when they turned round in typical TV teasing fashion

7.5/10

It was a very good episode, i think Donna is better this time round and worked well with the Doctor.

Nice surprise to see Rose at the end, looks like it could be a running link through the series.

9/10

First episode of Dr. Who I've ever watched and I really enjoyed it! Love Catherine Tate as well though she did remind me of her OTT character that says things like "THAT is classic me!" or "Don't I'm gonna wet meself!"

A very lightweight start, yet hugely enjoyable, feel good episode.

Sarah Lancashire was hugely enjoyable as the villain. I loved the cute baby aliens. They have so got to be Christmas merchandise. Thankfully, Donna (Catherine) was a lot less annoying / more likeable than she was in the awful Christmas Special she appeared in, whilst it was great to see Bernard Cribbins as the lovable (grand?)dad. Obviously a fair amount of time was spent initially explaining Donna's change of heart regarding travelling with the Doctor but that worked really well.

But the Rose twist (I know she's coming back later in the series), I never saw coming.

A lot better than I expected. Not least because Catherine Tate has eased the fears of this Dr Who fan with a well acted & well weighted performance tonight. Whilst crucially the chemistry that was there between David Tennant with Billie Piper, that went missing with Freema Agyeman has returned.

8/10

well im affraid that i dont agree with the comments so far.

i thought it was a poor plot, very sameish, and them fat creatures were.... ridiculous!

dr who needs to GET OFF THIS PLANET, set itself in the future, and play to peoples natural fascination with the unknown universe.

I liked this episode. Some of it was incredibly cheesy but the Adipose were cute. I've got a bit of a feeling that Donna is going to be a bit of a throwback to old style companions after the feisty Rose and the more detached (though more juvenile in a way) Martha. Rose turning round was a shocker! Didn't she looked pissed off. And I am really looking forward to both Rose and Martha coming back. (Though I hope Martha joins Torchwood full time)
7/10 for me, the worst opener of the four series so far, Catherine Tate is not working for me, At least Rose will be back before too long!

Rose and Martha don't appear until the very last 2 episodes, so we have long wait, and those episodes will probably get a time rescheduling due to the football on ITV (Euro)

well who knows if Rose might pop up again, noone was expecting her in the very first episode

but why did she look peeved off, why did she fade away, sooooo many questions from a few seconds

See my spolier above :o

Yeah, I too was shocked to see Rose so soon :o When she started to turn around I thought "OMG " My friend was watching it with me and she's never seen it before (since she comes from Germany), and she was very underwhelmed as I sat there having a heart attack

Personally I thought the plot was a bit c**p, the writing wasn't as good as the christmas special she appeared in which had quite a few more comedic moments despite still being very dramatic. Sarah Lancashire sounded like she was reading her lines off a sheet of paper, and the "fat things" WERE absloutely ridiculous.

7/10

See my spolier above :o

is that confirmed though or just one of the many wild theories that fans have come up with :o

and some people have compared the Adipose to Jigglypuff :heehee:
