I do recall Seal becoming a complete nobody with 'Human Being'. Not sure why though...

The Spice Girls also warrant a vote, although I don't know if that was down to the album as such, or just the bands popularity having been watered down a tad by the five solo careers swamping the market.

All Saints...yes it bombed, but I'm not sure whether it was the album or just their fanbase having disappeared over the 6 year gap.

Quality-wise I think The Corrs went wrong. The songs weren't BAD as such and there were some genuine gems (I LOVED Hurt Before, Give Me A Reason and the revamped Radio), but there was a noticable move from the charming Celtic tracks to the generic MOR radio fodder.

As with your other polls, a lot of odd choices there. The Sugababes for example...Three sold very well and spawned four top 10 singles; their only album to have done so, and was generally well received by critics. What exactly was 'difficult third album' about it?

Sophie Ellis-Bextor...I'm pretty sure this actually OUTPERFORMED her second album, so I'm not sure it could be seen as a failure.

my question is did the third album make the career better or not and in sugababes case it helped them as it was a success

Wrong sadly, despite the much better chart run, it only sold half as many as her second album. :(

Muse shouldn't count in this list, as that's a live/b-sides album...

Homogenic was a legend album. Pretty much assured that Bjork would be around for a long time.
Craig David's third album, although it had decent tracks, was a commercial flop.

Seriously? That really surprised me to be honest, Shoot From The Hips only reached #19 didn't it?

Yes, but it must have stuck around outside of the Top 75 for a lot longer; Shoot sold 80k and Trip sold 35k.

I voted The Corrs. In Blue is stunning. ^_^ (Borrowed Heaven is better still.. :P)

I think Britney's third album helped her career gain an older audience, and ultimately lead her away from teen pop, and to more mature music.
All Saints... Well most of the others are still together (Even if it is reuniting) or have had a greatest Hits Collection at the least but All Saints dont have either! lol

On the contrary, I think Britney is the only album of her career which she could have missed out entirely and it wouldn't have impacted on her status in any way. It produced no huge hits, it didn't have huge sales, and I'd say it's easily the album that the least people would go with as favourite. I just think it made no real impact on her career, whereas all her others did - ...Baby set the ball rolling and put Britney in the public eye, Oops! established her as a major idol who was sure to be around for years to come, In The Zone proved she'd grown up once and for all and could make sophisticated but fun dance-pop appealing to a huge audience, and Blackout showed the public that she wasn't over the hill when many had or were on their way towards writing her off. What did Britney really do? Nothing... :heehee: Just my opinion of course.

AS have had a GH! It came out after Saints & Sinners. :P Obviously far too early into their career to be of any use though.

What are we voting for? The worst 3rd album? the best? underrated?
I know. The wording is a bit confusing. Perhaps someone will clue us up?
