 Must we generalise in such a vague way as that? 'Teenage girls' listen to everything from Pop to R&B and Dance to Indie I'd imagine, much like the music tastes of the posters here on BJ.

I meant young girls, I'm sorry :P 8-12 year olds for example

Has anyone heard this yet?

Its 'Round & Round' by 'US5' which are one of the only good new boybands.

Its really catchy, could be described as Justin Timberlake meets Kylie Minogue.

OH MY GOD! When i said I want a new Nsync/Backstreet Boys type of band with songs like "Larger Than Life" and "Bye Bye Bye" - this is exactly what i meant!!! Will this be released in the UK?

Looking at past history, the latter part of a decade (80s & 90s), seems to have had a pop explosion.

Late 80s with the S/A/W stuff and the late 90s with the steps, s club stuff.

So the late 00's should see a similar kind of pop explosion...however as it said previously it will

be hard this time without smash hits and pop/saturday morning shows.

Read a comment by the Sugababes the other day saying how much they miss the days of the Smash Hits pop shows when they just had so much fun.

They've been around in Germany for almost 3 years now... In UK their first single "Maria" flopped. Maybe they're trying it again now, as they're supporting Boyzone on their reunion tour at the end of the month.

I know they are not successful especially anymore, but the Backstreet Boys are still going stong and in my opinion as a fan since they started there music is as good as ever. It's just that there's no market for this type of music anymore which is why it's not selling. However, their UK tour starts next week and the O2 Arena is sold out (that's 20,000 seats) so it's not too bad ;)!

Also as much as people seem to hate the fact they are still going, they have already started demos for their next album which will probably eb out next year after AJ's first & Brian's second solo albums. I don't think they are doing it for the success and fame anymore, just because they genuinely love being a band. Their last 2 albums haven't done that well, but they're not quitting. the next album will be their 7th studio album.

Theyve been around a while now actually in Germany but they are a mix of USA, English & German members.

They are touring with Boyzone so hopefully the song may be released in the summer here, im sure i read on the fan sites its out this summer along with

their new album 'Around The World' which is sounds like its going to be an amazing electro-pop, dance-pop, synthy-pop album from the clips ive heard.

Indeed their first single 'Maria' was dreadful though.

I love both their albums though, the first sounds like a lot like N*Sync's Celebrity album but the second is great electro-pop/R&B.

They are touring with Boyzone

They are only doing Wembley and the two nights at the O2, Laura Critchley is supporting the Boyz on the rest of their arena dates.

Ooh i thought they were doing more shows than that :(

I think they could do quite well in the UK if promoted, everyone i know whos hear the son so far has really liked it.

Well it was thanks to Busted and McFly (and reality shows showing the awful process of manufactured acts that made people turn their back on manufactured artists full stop apart from the winners of the shows for a year or two) that no one likes boybands anymore  But then just as Busted were splitting up they stopped liking them as and now all of their fans like bands like Kaiser Chiefs or My Chemical Romance so yeah they still like pop bands just not the cheesy manufactured acts like in the 90s.

McFly however still had people liking them, I remember late last year there was people queuing up at 2pm the day they were playing around here.

Phixx had alot of potential to be great - they were the male version of Girls Aloud really. Hold On Me was amazing and deserved to do well, but things just didn't take off for them :(

We need a funky sounding boy band really - something that will appeal to younger kids and gay men alike ()

I think if Same Difference do well, it will reignite the interest in a bit of fluffy pop again, which I think will be good for the charts overall as variety can only mean more interest and sales.

Boybands are just dying out. They where something of the 90's, where Girls would go out and buy magazines to get posters of their favourite band and drool over them. Its just not there anymore, and no one really cares these days.

I hate boybands, hope we never have to go through another boyband craze... i do like some of take that's songs tho :P but they are a manband haha

We NEED saturday morning shows for artists to promote on.. i say bring back CD:UK.. it worked! it was fun to watch! Maybe also bring back Top Of The Pops Saturday? or something along the lines of that for the BBC... i think if they do bring CD:UK back they would need a presenter as good as Cat Deeley to front it... none of that rubbish that they turned it in to with crappy presenters just before it died... i like myleene but she wasn't right! The blonde woman is good on more late night, 'cooler' music shows and the man?

I want more music shows, preferably all presented by Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac.

Mmmmyesplease.

I want CD:UK to come back too and lived in hope that Channel 5 would pick it up but alas nothing has happened. For me Top of the Pops Saturday was alright but when they rebranded it to Top of the Pops Reloaded, it had a very Live and Kicking feel - just without the cartoons. It was brilliant, and i don't see why, when TOTP was taken off air, that the saturday programme was just branded as Reloaded. It would have worked so well, and much better then saturday morning tv now

I totally agree bsb are just the best and nkotb have just revealed their new single called "Summertime"

so we;ll have take that,bsb,nkotb,boyzone & westlife.

And may i aslo add that girlband era aint all that either not many new girlbands makes it.

Girlband can be just as manufactured cheesy & bubblegum spice girls are a great example of that.

But i still kinda like them alittle.

and as for as im concened pcd seems to be the most succefull girlband out there at the moment and im speaking about

worldwide point of view while we have girls aloud who's only succesfull in the uk and thats it.

Whilse sugababes are bit more well known. worldwide

Spice Girls are manafactured and cheesy? So are Boyzone, Take That, Backstreet Boys (who I think are the WORST boyband ever) and Westlife. Take That are quite decent though I have to say, at least they bring out suitable material that matches their age and that's worth listening to. Backstreet Boys try to hard to be back in their teens, and well Westlife? Maybe they don't try hard enough.

Saying that, I was a bit of a fan of NSync when I was wee.

bsb trying to hard?? erhm you're not a fan of bsb so what do you know about their music?? i dont see them still doing eurodance/pop music like they did in the 90's and early 00's times have changed and so has bsb. take that & bsb are my fave boybands atleast they could "Sing" and still can.

And i see that you yet again you are trying to starts fights with me.i know lots about bsb so dont even try.

and spice girls were withoud adoubt the most overexposed & hated 90's girlband compared to the other 90's girlband such as:

En Vogue,TLC,SWV,Destinys Child,Xscape,All Saints,Eternal.

I don't need to know about an artist or band to have an opinion on them. Ok, so I don't know BSB inside and out, go ahead and bite me. :manson:

Spice Girls wern't that hated, if they where so hated then why where they so big? And yes, some of them in BSB can sing, but that still dosn't make up for most of the dreadfull material they released in the 90's.

are you serrious?? Lmoa!!! are you even old enough to remember the backlash that happened to them in the usa???

due to them being to overexsposed plus i remember ther was a ponmit there was too much spice girls out there.

They were just everywhere and it kinda reminded me of the same thing that happened to nkotb which im sure you dont know since you probably wasn't even born yet.

And just because you're big doesn't mean you can't be hated bsb & nsync were hated alot in america.

espcially more after the "The Real Slim Shady" song came out.aND THEY WERE BIG TOO.

josh are you even old enoguh to remember how spice girls evetually became so overexsposed

that critics were giving them a hard time and some artist/band at the time were also slagging them off.

And i remember how people also insweden were getting sick and tired of them even the spice's themselfs

spoke up about the critisim they were getting for getting to the point that they were annoying people

and critics had a field day and even some fans thought spice needed to take a break a bit.

I looooved spice girl back in 1996 as did many other straight boys...which i believe they have a very few of these days.

Im old enought to remember the backklash againt them and doinf the spice movie was just a another reason for critics to really slam the hell out of the group.

But im glad spice girls never suffered the same way as nkotb did in 1992.Now that was just sad and people may still have agrudge against nkotb.
