May 15, 200817 yr Erm Liverpool? Only if you consider the UEFA Super Cup a competition (it's like the Community Shield). Which technically was in the 2001/02 season, whereas their triple (Carling Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup) was in the 2000/01 season.
May 15, 200817 yr It was well deserved. They're a very good side. Gotta give credit to Walter and Rangers though, to get that far with that squad is pretty fantastic.

May 15, 200817 yr Well how else do you suggest they play? If they go for it they would've been out as soon as they left the Champions League. You can't play freeflowng attacking, beautiful football if you haven't got players who can play that way. It's not as if it works that well anyway. Take Arsenal and Barcelona, both play great attacking football but Arsenal haven't won anything in the last three season and Barcelona the last two. They've been less successful than 'boring' sides such as Chelsea and Real Madrid!

May 15, 200817 yr Barca are past it, they play good football but their current crop of players aren't really up to it if you know what i'm getting at. Their very weak in defence and Abidal and Zambrotta have been poor this season. If you play good football then you're less likely to win trophies as you're more prone to conceed goals. I think Chelsea play boring football at times, but look what their record is over the past 4 seasons? The neutrals may complain, but I doubt their fans will. On another note I think the violence from the Rangers fans in Manchester yesterday was disgusting. I know it was only a small minority but still. If that was fans from and English side you can guarantee you'd have every Tom, Dick and Harry calling for us to be banned from European football. :manson:
May 15, 200817 yr Quite a lot of the Rangers fans I know support the England National Team, not the Scotland National Team. Does that mean they're really an English Side and I can disown them? I live in hope.... :teresa:

Which technically was in the 2001/02 season, whereas their triple (Carling Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup) was in the 2000/01 season. competitions like the World Club, Community Shield, and Super Cup don't count towards doubles, trebles, etc.

Politics should be kept out of sport, unfortunately Rangers and Celtic fans won't listen to the rest of the country.

Politics should be kept out of sport, unfortunately Rangers and Celtic fans won't listen to the rest of the country. I suspect that's an accurate assessment. And Celtic fans support the Republic of Ireland. It's all quite depressing. I've actually been quite depressed today watching the news footage. I know it was a 'minority' but it was quite a large minority. Totally unacceptable. I just hope people don't confuse the thugs last night with the Tartan Army. :(
May 15, 200817 yr Born in Scotland Should support Scotland It's all quite bizarre. I live in a very Rangers orientated town (You know the one. Darkest Lanarkshire. Red , white and blue railings. Yes, that one.) When the Scotland-Italy qualifier was on I had my saltire draped out the window and held a footie party. When the match started I looked out the window. Kids were out playing, guys were out playing footie or driving about in cars. Apart from my house no-one seemed remotely interested in the Scotland game. But at Euro 2006 I couldn't move for Rangers fans wearing Beckham No7 shirts. I don't understand it and I doubt I ever will. Obviously it's political but I just can't work out what the politics actually are.

Rangers support England, Celtic support Republic of Ireland and the rest of us support Scotland  strange or what
May 16, 200817 yr Author I know a lot of Celtic and Rangers supporters and they all support Scotland. It's true that some fans take their bigotry too far and actively support England, N.Ireland and the Republic over Scotland but they're actually the minority. Personally, I'd ban the various marches in Glasgow - they're seeped in hatred and are only preserving the biogotry.
May 16, 200817 yr Well Celtic are my favourite scottish team because all my family is Irish :P I don't understand why Rangers fans would support England but I can fully understand why Celtic fans would support Ireland but I've always supported England and Ireland equally and at least wanted Scotland to win as one of my grandparents was born there. :P
