May 13, 200817 yr Stv would probs stay, thats all based in scotland and it has its own shows, it just uses a lot of ITV shows too. BBC $h!teland has its own schedule and England get certain programs before us (Hotel Babylon) or in other cases we just don't get them at all. I think the economy up here is strong enough to go it alone, although we do steal a large amount of money from england. After all Scotland is the only country in the UK NOT to be majorly hit by the credit crunch. Fine so the mean banks are being a bit stingy on the Mortgage side of things our house market is still rising, value went up by 3% last year, far more than the fall the rest of the UK had
May 14, 200817 yr although we do steal a large amount of money from england. Aye that may be true, but that's to make up for the fact that the last Tory Govt "stole" billions of Scotland's oil and gas wealth and redirected it to the South East of England and to give tax cuts for the the rich..... <_<
May 14, 200817 yr Author If we're such a financial burden it does beg the question why Westminster has been so keen to keep us for 300 years! Is there a single UK political party that favours Scottish independence? No? Thought not. Ok, why Labour want to keep Scotland (and Wales) is obvious. Voting fodder in the lobbies. But the Tories would benefit massively by 'offloading' Scotland and its 50 odd Labour MPs. And I'm sure the Tory voting Daily Mail types would love to get rid of all us workshy subsidy junkies. So why doesn't David Cameron adopt a 'let's get rid of the Jocks' policy. It would be a sure fire vote winner in the Shires. Or maybe he's just waiting till the oil runs out.... :P
