Posted March 14, 200619 yr Mariah Carey launches next two hit singles from The Emancipation Of Mimi, to Impact April 3rd Say SOMETHIN' featuring Snoop Dogg, produced by The Neptunes, goes to top 40/rhythmic radio. Video shot on location in Paris, starring Mariah, Pharrell and Snoop, directed by Paul Hunter GOSPEL-FLAVORED FLY LIKE A BIRD GOES TO URBAN RADIO With three consecutive #1 airplay hits under its belt (We Belong Together Shake It Off Don't Forget About Us), performer and songwriter Mariah Carey's 6x-platinum Island Records album The Emancipation Of Mimi, the biggest-selling album of 2005, will spin off two new singles this week Say Somethin featuring Snoop Dogg (to Top 40/ Rhythmic radio formats) and Fly Like A Bird (to Urban) it was announced today by Antonio Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group. Both songs will impact on Monday, April 3rd. The electrifying new video for Say Somethin was shot on location in the high-fashion world of Paris last week with acclaimed director Paul Hunter, co-starring Pharrell Williams (of the Neptunes) and Snoop Dogg. The beautiful and cinematic performance piece follows Mariah, as an international movie star, around Paris in Pharrell's Maserati with paparazzi following them everywhere. Dressed from head-to-toe in Louis Vuitton, they stroll down the Champs-Elyses, stop on the scenic bridge Le Pont de Paris overlooking the River Seine, and chill in Pharrell's luxurious Parisian apartment. The day culminates in high style, as Pharrell makes every woman's fantasy come true by closing the newly designed Louis Vuitton store on the Champs-Elyses, setting the stage for their own private shopping spree. Fireworks fly on the streets of the City Of Lights as Mariah once again collaborates with Hunter, who directed the video for her 17th #1 career hit single, Don't Forget About Us. Fly Like A Bird was produced by Mariah and by Flyte Tyme's Big Jim Wright. The Gospel-drenched song stirred the emotions of Grammy viewers worldwide last month, when Mariah performed it onstage with a full brass section and Brooklyn's 30-voice Love Fellowship Tabernacle Choir, under the direction of Grammy-winning Pastor Hezekiah Walker. The accompanying video will be shot in New York in late March. Source: Mariah Carey Official Well, I don't quite know what to say about it all, it must be a Double A as she won't release them seperately, however there is going to be a video shot for both Say Somethin' and Fly Like A Bird! This must be the most videos Mariah has made for one album, yes? Edited May 16, 200718 yr by Flatcap
March 14, 200619 yr will it go top ten? i think it will go to the lower part of the top ten if she promotes well (7-10) if she doesnt promote then she will get top 20.
March 14, 200619 yr I think it is the most videos Kelly, and I think SS will go top10 but not FLAB, that may top the gospel charts... but then again hasnt she already tried to release them both but neither of them took off... Ive read that somewhere, if this is the case shes made a bad mistake
March 14, 200619 yr Author She tried to release Say Something to radio before she released It's Like That and it didn't take off, but she hasn't released Fly Like A Bird to my knowledge

I believe that say somethin was never intended to be the first single. It's a big coincidence that the name of the first single changed from 'Stay the night' to 'Say somethin' and was immediately followed by SS leaking. I think the record company leaked it purposely to get a reaction or buzz from it. But I'm pretty sure Its like that was always going to be the first single! And I doubt FLAB will be released in the UK. I think it will be just be say somethin!

There is lots of sense there about pretending to be first single so the real one didn't get leaked it... didn't Mariah do promo in the UK for SS? I am sure I can remember her preforming on Ant & Dec before It's Like That... but I may be getting confused . I am worried about SS in the UK... I hope she releases it with FLAB as a double A side (with Say Somethin being the lead single so to speak). I'd also like to see her making a few special edition FLAB singles... like in velvet case or something... kinda like the special edition of Gwen's album... for the fans :P Edited March 15, 200619 yr by Glitter
March 15, 200619 yr Say Something was going to be the first single release, but she was trying to keep it secretive, but somehow a fan found it and leaked it to radio. She didn't leave it as this coz it leaked months before TEOM official release, so they stopped it going to radio, and a few months later released ITL as a first single. I think this double A-Side is a good idea, coz it shows two sides of Mariah. Say Something shows her hip-hop influenced music when she makes her voice more sexy and gets a rapper in. Fly Like A Bird gives us the powerful vocals that she is best known for, I think it has the best vocals on the album  Chart wise, SS will do better, but Fly Like A Bird may gain her interest from the gospel crowd. I just realised the first letters from Fly Like A Bird spell FLAB
March 15, 200619 yr I realised this too! I dont think FLAB (lol) has the best vocals, I think that title goes to WBT or Stay The Night or maybe Mine Again
March 15, 200619 yr I think she shows off her vocal ability in it really well e.g changing the power of her voice and going up and down octaves

Her promo trip for Its like that was her first UK visit since the charmbracelet tour in October 2003!
March 15, 200619 yr Author Well I remember Say Somethin' got leaked and sent to radio, and then It's Like That appeared out of nowhere -_-
March 17, 200619 yr Author Yeah I much prefer It's Like That, but Say Somethin' has grown on me a lot lately :o
