yay....great too see her climbing over here..."Live from Las Vegas" has re-entered the Irish DVD Chart @ 9 This week..

Im guessing thats due to the Hype Around the Tour!

Amazing though....

I don't understand why tours help albums so much. I always assume people who pay 50-100 quid for a ticket to see an artist have bought the album aswell  I appreciate it does help, but I just don't understand how :|

I guess is not about the people who's going to the tour (I bet 99% of them have the album already) but about the hype that a concert generates in each city, which gets more people interested in the artist who's playing the gig and therefore increases the album's sales.

Think it this way: if a huge act like Britney is coming to your town to play a concert live, I'm sure radios and the media in general will be all over her, that's an amazing sort of promo for an artist.

Radio stations seem to play the songs more especially if they're giving away tickets for a specific artist. At least that happens quite a bit on my local stations. They did commercials too to promote the ticket giveaway contests.

Also, I think there are still those people who do buy the album after seeing the concert. Maybe they were dragged there by a friend or something like that? Or people could buy the album in anticipation of seeing her in concert if they don't already have the album.

Except shes just staying in one city for the duration (apart from one Manchester gig)

And what Unusual Me just said about buying in anticipation... as Andrewy and Luciano said, i bet most have the album already as clearly she is an acquired taste, and not to generalise, but most fans have probably been fans since the start and are fanatic about her. Of course there will just be some people who think its a one in a lifetime experience to see the most talked about lady of pop "before she breaks down again" but i doubt that will impact the charts significantly to drag it up from its current poor position...

I think that the final sales will be around 340k - 350k in the UK. If she releases two more singles I could see it hitting 2 million in the US, and selling around 4.5 million ww.
They've even had to put the album price down to £3.95 on iTunes to get people to buy it. :(
Britney's never gonna be able to shift albums like she used to, the money from now on is always going to be in the tour, and seeing as the Circud Tour has so far been the most successful this year, I don't think Brit or her camp are complaining much ;)

Yeah, I agree. Not to mention it has still sold 3.5+ million worldwide. They are making a hefty profit off the album and the tour.

I don't think its because they want people to buy that album :heehee: It's just an offer they do sometimes. Sometimes they last for a week, a month or even keep it for a few months. It's just Britney's album has never been lower than £5.99 (has it?) So it's her time. And if they give her an AD on the front page of iTunes telling people it's going so cheap, I'm sure we could be seeing a return to the Top 10 albums on iTunes :) and MAYBE an increase in the OFFICIAL album's chart too.

THEY DON'T!

If you actually look at the album performances when other big (pop) acts tour (AND there is NO concurrent mega successful album boosting single release eg some britney fans have mistakenly assumed it was Pink's tour that increased her album sales dramatically but the increase is actually directly in sync with the release and peaking of the single "Please Don't Leave Me") you will see the reality is that albums rarely benefit from tours ( they consolidate fan bases IF they are perceived successful/expectations are fulfilled, of course), even indirectly as whoever would interested in such an averagely impacting/selling album would have already bought it by now - only some HUGE MEGA selling single from the album will get it to sell anything significant again.

Either that or ask people who U R certain R very familiar with the ***UK*** charts and are very knowledgible on the subject - they will tell you this same thing i risked my rep by predicting MONTHS ago on this forum (unless it was deemed unsuitable by moderation + its been deleted) aswell as predicting IUSA would be a flop compared to all the top 10 etc predictions being made at the time and its ability to vastly increase total album sales (which it didn't as on its PEAK week from IUSA charting the album barely managed to sell 1k :o and now it already plummeted back down to 90s ). Anyway i imagine that if the tour has no affect on album sales that all incorrect predictions here will be simply swept under the carpet as usual, so the same factless based predictions can be made again and again ( well its easier to deal with the truth aint it? :) )

PS was my original post that OFFENSIVE that U had to delete it - surely U don't think any britney fan would take any notice of an "insane nutters" (as they see it) post? Or R U more concerned to the credibility of Britney fans to the casual passer by - surely my post wasn't THAT illuminating, to be worth the effort of deletion? ;)

I actually think you're spot on about a tour not helping an album and stuff. Maybe Britney will become more of a tour act in the future (since this tour has been very successful) and even if she releases albums with moderate success, the focus will be on tours. But I wouldn't know anyways, lol.
