Self proclaimed 'uncool' indie popsters hailing from Reading andàStockholm. The Hoosiers smart jaunty pop propelled their debut album THE TRICK TO LIFE to the top spot in the UK album chart and led to a 2008 Brit Award nomination for their "Worried About Ray" single. - HMV

and now the shoe is about Fearne and Reggie and not about the top 40 :o

Since Fearne & Reggie took over this show, when has the Top 40 countdown been about the Top 40 songs?

I'm surprised at the small drop after it dropped 10 places last week.

Believe it or not I think this is the best tune Fall Out Boy ever recorded. Only Weird Al's parody of this tune is better than this.

Also, congrats to the bass player on getting married to Ashlee Simpson this weekend.

.... Yes we are listening to the Top 40 show because we really want to know about Reggie's Strawberry Pavlova

I quite like this Royworld single, the lead singer's voice reminds me a lot of the late Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy).

With her multi-octave voice and more than 80 million records sold worldwide, it's no surprise that pop diva Mariah Carey is viewed as the successor to Whitney Houston. She emerged as the premier R&B/pop songstress of the 1990s, and by the end of the decade had shifted gears a bit by collaborating with the likes of Ol' Dirty bast*rd and incorporating elements of hip-hop into her sound. Though her 2001 big-screen debut, GLITTER, was a total flop and something of a blow to Carey's seemingly Teflon career, her 2005 comeback record, THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI, solidified her status as a true pop-music diva. - HMV

The Kooks formed in 2004 while all four members were attending the Brighton Institute for Modern Music, the rock school set up by Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. Paying homage to their influences, the group displayed an accessible (and bankable) mix of Brit Pop, Kinks-like hooks, and Libertines-style punk swagger. In 2006, the band's highly anticipated debut album, INSIDE IN/INSIDE OUT, rocketed into the top five of the U.K. album charts. - HMV

Along with fellow Cash Money Click labelmate Juvenile, Lil Wayne is one of the most important MCs in the unfairly overlooked early 21st-century New Orleans rap scene. Blunt ghetto narratives about the hustler's life and woozy nearly psychedelic free associations fill Wayne's albums, but it's his allegiance to his home town that makes him a unique and forceful presence in hip-hop, and an important reminder that there is more to the Big Easy than Fats Domino and Dr. John. - HMV

Typical rap song for this moment in the industry and the tune recently went to #1 on the US singles chart.

a couple of notes to pass along:

Lil' Wayne has been releasing albums since 1999 when he only 15 and the guest artist that performs on the record named Static Major was murdered a few days after the video was made.

I think he might have been playing guitar.

I think you are right Adi. Too bad he wasn't in the video.

Multi-talented R&B artist, songwriter and producer, Taio Cruz signed a US publishing deal at the tender age of 18. Hailed as 'the new Babyface', the precocious Londoner earnt songwriting credits for Usher, Mya and Britney, and worked with Jazze Pha and Rich Harrison before his first release. On his debut album DEPARTURE (2008), Cruz inevitably shone in every department. From sweet and smooth vocals to the crisp and slick beats, DEPARTURE boasted individuality and style, and included the UK top five hit single "Come On Girl", a duet with Luciana. - HMV
