I remember the thread earlier in the year on Nickelback.

 

I think we worked out that "Think Twice", by Celine Dion was one.

 

The one I mentioned then was "So Macho", by Sinitta. She had a see-saw ride, up and down a top 200...and took 21 weeks to make the top 15, in July 1986.

The Power of Love by Jennifer Rush, took the same length of time to reach no1. as Think Twice

James Blunt - You're Beautiful debuted at #13 and took like 3 or 4 weeks to climb to the top, I think.

Well not exactly, because it entered on downloads alone.

Think Twice reached the top 15 in its 8th week on the chart. So Macho did it in week 6 (vidcapper was asking for songs reaching the top 15 in a continuous run).

 

The only two I can think of are White Lines by Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel, which took 21 weeks to reach the top 15 and The Power Of Love by Jennifer Rush which reached #15 on its 14th week on the chart.

 

as much as i hate how downloads are taking over, i do like the fact that songs have to climb to their peak. It was boring having songs just peaking in the first week and then just falling, as most of them did.

They used to do this until mid-1995. Then like you said they became boring, uninteresting and predictable.
