Posted May 29, 200619 yr Does anyone remember this gem from 1996/7  it's been on a Halfords ad the past few weeks and I decided to download it tonight and it's amazing! I think it was on a football ad in 1997 as well, listening to it seems to bring back memories of the World Cup 98, so maybe it was played in 1998... Anyway enough of me rambling, APPRECIATE! :smoke:

May 30, 200619 yr I love the 1996 original dance remix-I downloaded that legally I already have the 1997 rock remix on a couple of albums :-)
May 30, 200619 yr There was a whole string of these kinds of bands in the early/mid 90s - Curve, Sneaker Pimps, Garbage, etc, but I reckon that Republica were probably the weakest, I liked this song and "Drop Dead Gorgeous" for about 10 minutes... First album was listenable, but forgettable after a while, second album was truly awful and they quickly sank without trace....
January 3, 200718 yr I love this song! It's one of my all time favorite songs! Too bad they released two great albums (Republica and Speed Ballads) and then they splitted out. The lead singer Saffron joined to another band Swarm. I really hope they will come back sometimes... Another two awesome hits from Republica are Drop Dead Gorgeous and From Rush Hour With Love: Drop Dead Gorgeous WlcDwxSa8g0 From Rush Hour With Love C8pJi_upb9E PS 1. Their first album is AllMusicGuide Album Pick: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:ztfm967ofepc 2. I listened to both albums and these are absolutely amazing! If you like Republica you can also try Garbage Edited January 3, 200718 yr by Alin
January 3, 200718 yr Saffron was better in N-Joi I thought (even if she was miming) She also played Chesney Hawkes' lady friend in this video! Ls4tVZl_Mx8
January 3, 200718 yr Saffron was better in N-Joi I thought (even if she was miming) No, Republica was her career peak (I never heard about N-Joi til I read a Saffron's bio) She also played Chesney Hawkes' lady friend in this video! Where did you know that? Can you give a link about that? (I don't think that woman from the video is Saffron; only her haircut is like Saffron).
January 4, 200718 yr If you hadn't heard about N-Joi until you read it in her bio then how can you possibly state Republica are better? I read about Saffron appearing in Chesney Hawkes' video in 1991 in Smash Hits. Chesney's vid was number one and a re-released Anthem was out around the same time so the mag pointed it out. If you want a link then go and find one on google...unfortunately my knowledge predates web searchability ;) It is Saffron and she's at least five years younger.

Because I also watched some videos of they! :P http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...i&search=Search And defintelly Republica was a way better than N-Joi (not talking about popularity: Republica made Saffron really known to public). Ha! ^_^ I found this: http://www.wtaworld.com/printthread.php?t=1987&page=21&pp=15 I watched this video at Vh1 pretty frequent and I never thought Saffron can be that girl! Edited January 4, 200718 yr by Alin
