I have to say, I am shocked by this record... I never, EVER thought I could like a Metallica record ever again after the godawful tripe they've shat upon us since "The Black Album", but this is pretty fukkin' excellent I have to say, and probably the best album they've done in pretty much twenty years.... "That Was Just Your Life" is just a bloody AWESOME tune, as good as anything Metallica did in the mid-80s during their peak.... I actually feel excited about this band again, something I aint felt since I was 18.....

That Was Just Your Life is by far alre my favourite. I am quite shocked that The Day That Never Comes made top 20 on the UK Singles Chart and that how many singles were released off this? I think it was like 6 or so :o almost as much as Rihanna's milking off Good Girl Gone Bad.

According to Metallica.de, Metallica will release a new single, "All Nightmare Long", in Europe on the Vertigo label through Universal. Due on December 15 (three days earlier in Germany), the single will include the title track plus the accompanying video. A special "Single Collector Package" will consist of three CDs and will feature additional live recordings plus other previously unreleased material. More information will be made available soon.

"Death Magnetic", the current album from Metallica, was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) just six weeks after its release on September 12 by Warner Bros. Records.

"Death Magnetic" debuted atop The Billboard 200 chart, Metallica's fifth consecutive album to do so, making them the only band in chart history to have five albums debut at No. 1. It breaks the band's tie with The Beatles, U2, and the Dave Matthews Band, all of whom have four No. 1 album debuts. "Death Magnetic" remained at No. 1 for three consecutive weeks.

In addition to debuting at Number 1 atop Billboard's Rock, Alternative, Hard, and Internet album charts in the U.S., the album racked up No. 1 chart positions in 31 foreign countries, including the U.K., Canada, and Australia, and Top 3 chart slots in seven more, including Japan.

I knew it would be the next single, it's the most commercial song on the album. One of my faves off the album.

I've just been checking out the sales figures for this... 3 million worldwide so far.... That's just fukkin' unbelievable for an album which certainly is NOT commercial Poppy Rock, it's pretty damned heavy, pretty bloody technical METAL.... The album's only been out, what, two months...... :o

It's gonna sweep the boards at the Grammys next year I reckon, and should get them a bloody Brit nomination, but it wont, cos the Brits are w'ankers with a total anti-Metal bias.... <_<

I would say half the world love Metallica and the other half hate them or hate them because they aren't in the pop genre and therefore one shouldnt even attempt listening to them. But if they sell so much even get decent chart peaks, they surely deserve countless awards (not that it would help with anything I mean Kid Rock got an award - what does that say) TDTNC even made the Buzzjack Multichart and the Multichart looks like this atm:

1 Britney, 2 Girls Aloud, 3 Katy Perry, 4 Beyonce .. you get the picture. I think the pop and metal genres naturally despise each other although I like Rihanna and Gabriella Cilmi. Even though Metallica has a much higher musical standard than they will ever get. How can even a Saturdays fan not like TDTNC just blows my mind.

This Forum is saturated by teeny-bop pop kids though.. Speaking of The Saturdays, have you noticed the absolutely P!SS-POOR sales and chart positionings for their debut album....ROFLMAO..... It got to a HIGH of No 11, and now has slunk down to 37 or thereabouts.... By contrast, Metallica got to No 1 on the UK albums charts.... I believe that Slipknot actually peaked higher as well in UK with their recent one.... A manufactured Pop Group that Pop fans dont seem to be liking very much.... Oh dear, the irony....

Anyway, I think that about the only thing that might scupper "Death Magnetic" is the controversy surrounding the mastering... A fan actually put a re-mastered version of "Death Magnetic" which he did himself on a peer-to-peer download site, it actually sounds sharper and better than the original mastering.... Someone should put this guy, whoever he is, on the payroll....

All Hope Is Gone got too number 2, and years back Iowa got to number one.

Yep, that's a better peak than The Saturdays.....

Who the fukk says "pop" is the most popular as far as album sales go.... They may sell more singles, but the most high profile Metal/Rock bands clearly have manufactured pop groups beaten hands down as far as albums go...

All Nightmare Long video

Better than the dire TDTNC video and pretty clever. I just hope for the next single though they do a more traditional one, rather than these very arttie videos.

The song is excellent though, great choice for a single as it's easily one of the best on the album.

I just heard TDTNC a few days ago . However its very good, definately not that heavy at all by my reckoning, very "listenable" :D . However, i obviously know nothing.

damn deadlines :(

by the way i found that image on Digg, i believe it originates from that 4chan place.

'My Apocalypse' is turning into one of my faves from the album, I think. :o It's so catchy, gosh. Although the lyrics imo don't blend with the vocals, as if somethings missing..you'd expect with a title like 'My Apocalypse' it'd be a lot more 'heavier' but I guess the sound of Death Magnetic is just that - which is still amaze. The more you listen to it and the album as a whole the more amazingly amaze it gets :|
