June 18, 200817 yr 1 Doctor & The Medics - Spirit In The Sky still love this, it scared me at the time though (I was only 5 years old) 2 Simply Red - Holding Back The Years one of their best tunes to be honest, though I prefer Fairground 3 Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait love it love it love it!  :funky: 4 Robert Palmer - Addicted To Love ok, never was mad on it 5 Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer great video 6 The Real Thing - Can't Get By Without You (The Second Decade Remix) only heard the original 7 Wham! - The Edge Of Heaven much overlooked, but one of their best along with Wham Rap! :w00t: 8 A-ha - Hunting High And Low alright 9 Falco - Vienna Calling not heard this 10 Jaki Graham - Set Me Free good drance track 11 Pet Shop Boys - Opportunities (Let's Make Lots Of Money) outstanding!!! love love love it!!! :yahoo:   12 Patti LaBelle & Michael McDonald - On My Own bland and boring 13 Amazulu - Too Good To Be Forgotten shouldn't like this version, but I do 14 Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Run The World does this differ greatly from original? Something to do with Sport Aid I'm guessing? 15 Lovebug Starski - Amityville (The House On The Hill) Not heard 16 Bucks Fizz - New Beginning (Mamba Seyra) Again, cheesy and overblown, but pretty damn good 17 Genesis - Invisible Touch Never was overly keen on Genesis but this ain't bad. Land Of Confusion is brilliant though 18 Spitting Image - The Chicken Song ha ha, hmmmm, is it wrong I don't hate this 19 Level 42 - Lessons In Love so so 20 Pete Wylie - Sinful should have been a much bigger hit. June 18, 200817 yr 22 Owen Paul - My Favourite Waste Of Time Prefer the Bette Midler version She did a version of this? Never knew that. Is it any good?
June 18, 200817 yr She did a version of this? Never knew that. Is it any good? Yep. On an album with her version of The Stones Beast of Burden. It's alright but as I said it is better than the Owen Paul version.
June 18, 200817 yr My comments: 1 Doctor & The Medics - Spirit In The Sky terrible song 2 Simply Red - Holding Back The Years lovely song which reached #1 in the US 3 Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait great pop dance song 4 Robert Palmer - Addicted To Love The first (and last) song ever played on The Chart Show. Good song but the guitar always reminded me of an old ice-cream advert that use to be played at the local cinema (King Cone?, something like that) 5 Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer Groundbreaking vid at the time that now just slightly irritates. I likes the song back then, less so now 6 The Real Thing - Can't Get By Without You (The Second Decade Remix) pointless remix of a bland song and the follow up to the remix of You To Me Are Everything 7 Wham! - The Edge Of Heaven Their last song and quite possibly their worst 8 A-ha - Hunting High And Low brilliant, haunting song with an equally brilliant vid. One of the few times you could tell the singer was Norwegian and not English - he sings DORK not DARK at one point 9 Falco - Vienna Calling didn't really care for this 10 Jaki Graham - Set Me Free over the top production, completely soulless 11 Pet Shop Boys - Opportunities (Let's Make Lots Of Money) didn't care much for this 12 Patti LaBelle & Michael McDonald - On My Own For some reason I bought this, it sounds a bit bland to me now 13 Amazulu - Too Good To Be Forgotten didn't care much for this 14 Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Run The World I love the original and I think this wasn't a re-recording as such just a rework of the one line in the chorus? 15 Lovebug Starski - Amityville (The House On The Hill) awful, absolutely awful 16 Bucks Fizz - New Beginning (Mamba Seyra) not bad, different to anything they'd done before 17 Genesis - Invisible Touch OK, nothing special 18 Spitting Image - The Chicken Song terrible 19 Level 42 - Lessons In Love excellent song, I bought this single back then 20 Pete Wylie - Sinful OK 21 Miami Sound Machine - Bad Boy was OK 22 Owen Paul - My Favourite Waste Of Time OK 23 The Housemartins - Happy Hour good song 24 Janet Jackson - Nasty dull 25 Cashflow - Mine All Mine / Party Freak I Found Loving by The Fatback Band part 2. OK 26 Bananarama - Venus poor 27 Sigue Sigue Sputnik - 21st Century Boy can't remember this one 28 Van Halen - Why Can't This Be Love I had this single. Still like it 29 Matchroom Mob With Chas & Dave - Snooker Loopy terrible! 30 Big Audio Dynamite - Medicine Show can't remember this one 31 Midge Ure - Call Of The Wild OK 32 Billy Ocean - There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)awful 33 Culture Club - God Thank You Woman very poor song, the group was well in decline by now 34 Eurythmics - When Tomorrow Comes I never liked the Eurythmics though I did like some of their songs. This isn't one of them 35 Dhar Braxton - Jump Back (Set Me Free) I still have the 12" of this. Excellent, quirky dance choon! 36 The Communards - Disenchanted Disinterested more like 37 The Smiths - Big Mouth Strikes Again not one of their best 38 Sly Fox - Let's Go All The Way good song 39 Status Quo - Rollin' Home poor song 40 Freddie Mercury - Time can't remember this one Edited June 18, 200817 yr by Robbie

June 18, 200817 yr Top 40 Hits of Mid June 1986 5 Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer 8 A-ha - Hunting High And Low 11 Pet Shop Boys - Opportunities (Let's Make Lots Of Money) 20 Pete Wylie - Sinful 26 Bananarama - Venus 27 Sigue Sigue Sputnik - 21st Century Boy 30 Big Audio Dynamite - Medicine Show 37 The Smiths - Big Mouth Strikes Again    literally the only listenable tracks on there - with The Smiths being the only bona fide classic - surely their finest single?
June 19, 200817 yr literally the only listenable tracks on there - with The Smiths being the only bona fide classic - surely their finest single? That is obviously highly debatable seeing as the qquality of their output is so high. Might have to go with This Charming Man and How Soon Is Now over Bigmouth. Then there's Ask and Sheila Takes A Bow.
