Posted June 23, 200817 yr http://i31.tinypic.com/11jyatv.png Chart Commentary CSS make TOTB chart history as they become the first female-vocalised group ever to reach no.1 (though it's not the first time a female act has reached no.1 technically, seeing as how Martha Wainwright lent her talents to Snow Patrol's 'Set The Fire To The Third Bar' way back in November 2006, and prior to that the Ordinary Boys' no.1 summer hit 'Nine2Five' also featured Lady Sovereign!). It's also a cracking tune and can be expected to spend a fair few weeks at the top. This means Infadels sadly drop a place, and creeping up just behind them are everybody's favourite poncey masturbators Coldplay lead by the humourless, bland, boring, unoriginal, self-worshipping wall-paper licker Chris Martin. 'Viva La Vida' has proved to be a big hit among fans and has also recently gifted the British group their first US no.1, without even a full release! A release could be in the works, however, and if they do get one expect 'Viva La Vida' to be challenging for no.1. Mystery Jets continue their slow, steady exit from the top ten at 4 and just below them is a cracking new entry from chart debutants Noah & The Whale. 'Five Years Time' is a catchy, fun summery song with a witty video, and is superior to their previous hit 'Shape Of My Heart' imo. It should start to climb the top 5 in the coming weeks. The rest of the chart is as-you-were, with Last Shadow Puppets having the honour of being this week's only non-movers, Wombats achieving the rare feat of climbing up the chart from last week's 8, and MGMT and Black Kids both suffering 3 place falls, the latter of which looks to have spent its last week inside the chart. It's not far wrong in all honesty as Fratellis have successfully managed to follow-up what was an incredibly strong debut with what is essentially more of the same. But it sounds great, from first song to last so more of the same is definately no bad thing. People can complain about 'no progression' and 'carbon copies' all they want, this for me is one of the albums of the year and while admittedly it isn't as flourished as 'Costello Music', it makes for very enjoyable listening and i'd recommend it to anyone. Coldplay's ridiculously long-titled new album has still been getting a decent amount of airplay so it drops slightly to 2.
