BASICALLY, This was in my exam I did a couple of months ago..

Thought it would be something good to discuss...

I mostly object to abortion, and only in cases such as the mother dying as a result or if the pregnancy is a result of rape.

HOWEVER, I do not think it's right for some careless mother who forgets to use a condom because she was out of her head and couldn't even REMEMBER having sex... There are plenty of people out there who would LOVE kids, but can't. :(

THOUGHTS?

im for it its up to the person whos carrying the baby tbh so yeh im defo FOR!! but i think its wrong sometimes like if the baby is to old!!

this has been discussed before... however, as a newbie you wouldnt have known that and theres no problem running it again.

abortion should NOT be used as means of contraception, it should only be used in extreme circumstances... ie as a result of rape or when the baby is deformed.

I agree with what has been said that i am for it when the pregnancy is by rape, or there is something wrong with the baby.

Completely for it, much better than bringing a child into a world who is either unwanted or to parents who can't afford to keep it. Putting a baby up for adoption is just as bad imo, this coming from someone who has witnessed the hurt of someone spending their life searching for their biological mother who had regreted putting him up in the first place ever since and of course not every child who finds their real mum is so well recieved. :(

Unfortunately even when people are really careful a woman can still fall pregnant, I know many people who've just left Uni who're pregnant but they're keeping their babies. There are too many unloved children in this world as it is that's my main reason why I'm for it. :(

For

If the baby is not wanted better to get rid than make it life in a home and not knowing its on mother or father

I'm for it it just seems to be abused sometimes as a belated form of contraception.

no no no... there is NO excuse for unwanted pregnancy in this day and age... EVERYONE knows how to make babies and everyone knows how to avoid it.. it is totally irresponsible for anyone not to consider the consequences of unprotected sex and there is no excuse.

even if (and especially) if sex is 'recreational' then theres more weight to the 'use contraception' lobby.

abortion is a nasty, disgusting, unhealthy means of THE FEMALE dealing with the problem... moraly.. if you dont want a kid... THEN USE A RUBBER! it aint the womans alone responsibility, its BOTH participants.

Well that wasn't what I was getting at.. Of course I'm against it being used as a method of contraception but at the same time there is no method of contraception and that includes 'extra safe' durex condoms that are 100% guarenteed to stop a woman from getting pregnant.

If I got a girl pregnant then I wouldn't want her to have an abortion but at the same time I wouldn't force her to keep the baby if she felt she couldn't, it's my responsibility as much as hers and if she kept it then unlike a lot of 'fathers' you hear about I'd be there to support it! <_<

It's an oversimplistic question to be honest.. For me, it's about "Pro-Choice".. The woman has a right to choose to have an abortion or choose to NOT have an abortion, both choices should be respected in a free, civilised society... I am totally against any and all interests who would deny a woman the right to choose either way.... So, for myself personally I'm neither for nor against abortion, I am for CHOICE..... When it comes to children (ie, those under 16) being pregnant however, this is a different and very grey area.... I would tend to think that for the good of society in general (and the child's own future..) then abortion is the only realistic option, a child cannot raise a child, they just dont have the emotional maturity or life experience....

..At the end of the day though, it's education that's the important thing, a good strong system of sex education would stop a lot of this from even happening.. In Holland and Scandinavia, Sex Education starts at age 7 or 8, and they are taught that taking responsibility is paramount, so cant be coincidence that Scandinavia and Holland dont even have a fraction of this problem.... There are kids out there that honestly believe that AIDS/HIV is a problem which only effects people aged over 30.... This is not good.....

I don't think it should be illegal, but I think it is extrememly immature for a woman to get an abortion because she is promiscuous. People need to learn how to take care of their responsibilites. Of course there are circumstances when abortion is understandable though.

Ive never understood people who say abortion should be outlawed for those who have unprotected sex. Thats advocating bringing a child into the world that may be unloved as well as limiting the future career of one/both of the parents, just to teach those two 16-year-olds who made one mistake a lesson. What is the point in that?

Also, lets not forget, the planet is struggling big time. Already, it cannot come close to feeding everyone on it, and in the next 50 years, the population is going to get ever bigger and crop production ever weaker (due to climate change and other factors). It might sound harsh, but less people coming into the world would be an extremely good thing.

This sums up my view on the subject perfectly.
