On the singles front Bryan Adams holds the record for the most consecutive weeks at No1 with 16 weeks and Frankie Laine holds the record for most non-consecutive weeks at No1 with 18 weeks. However that looks insignificant compared to the feats of some albums…

The Original Soundtrack to South Pacific spent a colossal 70 consecutive weeks at No1 between 1958 and 1960 meaning there was only ONE album No1 in 1959!! In fact after it was knocked off after 70 weeks at No1 it returned to the top a week later for another 19 weeks at the top and in 9 spells at the top spent a whopping 115 weeks at No1 in total! That’s over 2 years!!

can't believe Boyzone's hits album had 9 weeks at No.1  Talk On Corners by The Corrs was a well deserved 10 weeks  on one of those weeks, another of their albums, Forgiven Not Forgotten was at No.2 :D
Talk On Corners and Life For Rent are my fave albums of all time, I still play Life For Rent from time to time, I never get bored of it. Some really great tracks on it, well written and good vocals.

Cheers, and corrected. :)

I'm exactly the same. Those two have reputations for being bland, but who cares?

Talk On Corners was the first album I ever bought and LOVED, and it's still my favourite today. I just wished they'd given I Never Loved You Anyway a re-release after they made it big.

And poor old Dido...unfairly maligned. Stoned and See You When You're 40 are BEAUTIFUL tracks.

Also loving Jagged Little Pill on that list. I've said it before but it's a shame people wrote Alanis off after this album. Jagged Little Pill is the most consistent, yes, but her following albums contain some gems.

That was amazing, totally well-deserved.

Found this on page 2, really informative, for anyone that has overlooked it, deserves a bit of a bump

This is a great thread, thanks for this. Can't believe Phil Collins had 15 weeks at number one with But Seriously...
