The Saturdays - 'Up' 'Chasing Lights' [13.10.08] [27.10.08]

Featured Replies

Referring back to The Saturdays I would be saying the same kind of thing if I liked their two songs but the fact that I just don't like either song just makes me all the more baffled that so many people have become subjected to the hype so much! Even Girl Thing were better and they are basically the same only Girl Thing were actually slightly better imo!

But just because you don't like it doesn't mean other people won't.

This is the point I'm fighting for here...

I really like The Saturdays but I like all kinds of music.

I must admit, I'm generally more into pop, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't like them.

I understand that not everyone's going to like them, but at least let the people who do like them, do so.

Without being quoted, ridiculed and goaded into arguments.

If I went into another bands thread and started throwing ridiculous comments about the band and even personal comments about the members, I'd be called a troublemaker and probably be banned.

But how are you supposed to fight against this when the majority of the "Staff" in this thread are the people making such comments.

It's ridiculous.

It's quite clear that people these moderators aren't pop music fans and I don't think they should be allowed to moderate the pop forum when they have such a biased view on the type of pop that is successful.

Can we please stop this constant fighting? I really dont think its fair when paragraphs and paragraphs of nonsense are taking over the 'issue' of the actual topic - the single and the album.
At the MTV live sessions they performed album tracks 'Issues' and 'Chasing Lights' - pheonomonal.
Is the album actually called 'Chasing Lights' btw? It's just that on the album cover it just has 'The Saturdays' on it ...

Yeah, "Chasing Lights" is on the side of the jewel case.

I understand that people ARE going to like them but the 'argument' was actually started because anyone who came into the thread and said they didn't like them was told to bugger off! If you were told something like that in any situation you're likely to react quite badly to it aren't you? If you don't want people to react like that then don't say things like that yourself simple as that! Also if you miss the point of Scott, Russ or Rob say then they're gonna come back again and will probably get annoyed at all! I think at some point both sides were in the wrong but if anyone was particularly out of order then I'm sure they were reported to Silver Rocket or The 411 if not then they should have been!

If you don't want to talked back in what you feel is an insulting manner then people shouldn't do that themselves! I don't wanna keep repeating myself here especially as I'm not a moderator of this particular forum but I wish that this thread could just people debating about the pros AND cons of Up, Chasing Lights and any other relevant discussion that comes out of it (like manufactured music for example :P ) like it's supposed to be. If someone says something which I don't agree with then I'll challenge them to it and say my opinion, if I hear another track or a live performance and I like it or dislike it then I'm gonna post my opinion and I definitely won't call people names for disagreeing with me!

Anyway I'm at least gonna watch that live video coolnav posted myself :P

I have a suggestion!

It's quite novel.

If you are a Saturdays fan and you are sick of the endless criticisms of everything from their music to their intelligence, then...

Ignore it.

Simply don't reply, or do reply but talk only about the iTunes positions, new songs, the album, or any other actual news - nothing which is going to continue this circular discussion.

That way, everybody is happy. Grimly and Mushy can vent, we can put across our opinions, no conflict occurs.

So to recap...

Do not respond to hateful posts if you're sick of this circular discussion.

Just to note, I'm ALL for debate, but I honestly believe Mushy and Grimly have said truly everything they possibly could about the Saturdays now, and the only way to get past it is to pretend it's not even there.

...and i genuinely believe you 'fans' have said all you have to say and are also repeating yourselves!

The Saturdays were on Blue Peter earlier. It was good to see what a plugger actually does and how much he/she does for a band/artist. I found it quite insightful, and though not as informative as it can be cos its a children's show, it gave enough insight
But just because you don't like it doesn't mean other people won't.

nah .... it was YOU that started the personal insults, YOU who have twice told me to p*** off long before i referd to you as a 'pillock' for your inflamitory, misquoted post made against me! we might be mods on OTHER forums but on here me, scott, russ are EQUAL to you.

history lesson

bj was started by phil, martin, kelly, etc to provide an alternative board to the failing cool clarity. that was going down because admin was week and the membership were either running riot OR posting nothing but c**p. the concept behind bj was that this forum would provide a vehicle for topical entertainment debate and discussion. the notion of such a place provides the environment for people to post opposing views . now all you 'fans' want to do is sit around having orgasms because its reached #2 in the itunes chart and bum up this nonentity of an 'act'...

IF ALL THREADS WERE LIKE THAT, BJ WOULD DIE.

the BEST forums cater for all opposing views . it just seems a shame that some here havnt the mental capacity to grasp this.

So, this is all very thrilling no? Excited to see how the song holds up. At first I thought it would flop, then it raced up iTunes, so the question now is how long it can stay there...

I maintain, also, that the Riffs & Rays remix is absolutely stonking.

None of the remixes are as good as the original track, for me anyway!
I thought I'd like the Wideboys Remix, but I find it quite boring actually I LOVE the original much more!
debate is good yes and should be used on a forum but when you constantly use it as a reason to bash a song/artist or there "fans" then that is very sad and annoying and doesn't really go anywhere -_- ;)
The Blue Peter thing was very interesting. Hopefully that will get a few of the younger kids to ask for a copy, as most wont actually have an iTunes account.

I never expected it to reach #2 on iTunes. :o The first single was rammed down our throats a lot more and that didn't do anywhere near as good as 'Up'. This is a much better song and it's on par with most (if not all) Girls Aloud singles in my opinion.

the saturdays have been hyped up as 'the next big thing'... we (the antis) can see that they arnt.

The thing is, I don't think even the pro-Saturdays members here think they are the 'next big thing' so they don't need to be told they aren't. I was expecting it to miss the top 10 as it isn't doing great on airplay and it wasn't exactly all over the place. I think some others thought this too. I don't think anyone in here has ever claimed that they were the next Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Spice Girls etc. -_-

Manufactured they may be, but what's wrong with liking them? It's not like we take anything Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and co. throw at us. Yes, Leona Lewis and Jordin Sparks may be popular on here but other acts from them like Leon Jackson, Westlife, Boyzone and Shayne Ward are generally disliked.

I'm so over the moon about the #4 position, hope it can stay top 5! :D
At the MTV live sessions they performed album tracks 'Issues' and 'Chasing Lights' - pheonomonal.

The vocals were a bit dodgy in 'Chasing Lights' but it's good they all got to sing a bit. Loved 'Issues' though, Vanessa amazing as always. :)

They sound brilliant, and Vanessa is amazing! nice to see Una playing the guitar aswel

They are becoming my new fave girlband

I don't know if it's been posted yet, but Chasing Lights' release date has been moved to October 27th. ^_^
