October 28, 200816 yr I think Intimacy is an awesome progression. Silent Alarm/Weekend In The City are good albums, but get pretty boring after a while. Intimacy is just more.. exciting?
October 28, 200816 yr Author SA will always be my favourite but all of there music is so amazing its hard to choose which is best.
October 28, 200816 yr Intimacy is as dull as anything imo. :( Just because it has a grittier sound does not make it anymore interesting, AWITC at least had some nice moments with 'Waiting for the 7.18' + 'Song For Clay'. Intimacy is just one huge mess imo. Whatevsss. SA will never be topped. :/ I have doubts they will ever release a good album again, though the fact that they did release Flux does show that they still have some promise.
October 28, 200816 yr Author :o could Talons be their last single... Bloc Party are indifferent to the singles chart and say scoring a hit is no longer important to them. The band physically released their third album Intimacy on Monday following its rush release in download format on 21 August. The band say they didn't think of the release as "a business decision", and weren't worried about chart positions. In fact, bassist Gordon Moakes revealed they may stop putting out physical singles in the future. Intimacy was not eligible for the Top 40 charts last month, due to its download-only release. While this month might see it enter the top 10, Moakes told 6 Music that it's not really a priority. I think none of us were sufficiently concerned about it as a business decision Bloc Party bassist Gordon Moakes He said: "I don't think our digital release was eligible so this is our only shot at the charts - but the kind of band we are, isn't one you were going to see on Top Of The Pops really. "We've never entirely played the game. Maybe we'll find out that it's a great success, but maybe we'll find out that people just aren't buying CDs anymore." Last October, Radiohead put out their latest album, In Rainbows, with a "pay what you like" price plan. However, it still went to number one after its physical release in January. Asked whether Bloc Party were hoping for a similar impact, Moakes said: "I don't know. We're waiting to find out really. "I think none of us were sufficiently concerned about it as a business decision to not do it - to say, 'if you put it down as a download, x amount of people might not buy it'." Lissack added that they might do away with physical singles altogether. We're talking now about not doing anymore physical formats for singles meaning we won't have anymore eligible singles after Talons Gordon Moakes "Our record company's been behind our ideas for this record and future singles," Moakes continued. "We're talking now about not doing anymore physical formats for singles meaning we won't have any more eligible singles after Talons. "I think the days are gone where you can really make a splash in the charts, being a band like us, and have that sort of thing make a difference to your reputation and your sales. "Music was never a competition, whoever made it a competition? One decision might be to not get involved in that and put out non-eligible things on purpose." However, their view on the physical release of albums has not changed. "We have a young fan base so I don't know how doing it the way we did will affect us, but it's still an event to put out a record. "We're still vinyl fans. With the last record we put out a picture disc. All this extra stuff that's dying out, we're still into as a band."
October 29, 200816 yr "We're still vinyl fans. With the last record we put out a picture disc. All this extra stuff that's dying out, we're still into as a band." But aren't Vinyls supposed to be on the up again??
October 29, 200816 yr Author But aren't Vinyls supposed to be on the up again?? I thought so, 7" singles have been very common with most releases recently, although they are getting harder to get as most HMV's have stopped selling them, i only no 2 that still do, London and Reading, and the Reading one has downsized about 3 times in the last 2 years so that may not last. But at least this sounds like BP may want to make more special vinyl releases :D
October 29, 200816 yr I don't really mind as long as they release new material. I'd usually just buy the album and not really worry about the single tbh (just download the b-sides illegally) I'm pleased they don't seem to care about chart positions but it's a shame the singles from Intimacy didn't do better.
October 29, 200816 yr I think they mean the end of physical singles as in CDs. They'll always release on 7" I think. Tis very popular with their fans.
October 29, 200816 yr Author This Modern Love Live on the "Take Away Show" and that is why i love Bloc Party.
November 20, 200816 yr Author and the next single is.... .... .... .... One Month Off!!!! Out January 26th.
November 20, 200816 yr ^^ I think that's probably the best choice for next single. The most radio-friendly/ commercial song left on the album I think - doubt it will do much chartwise, but will hopefully boost the album, which has dropped like a brick :(
November 20, 200816 yr 'One Month Off' is a good song, think I would have preferred 'Halo' or 'Trojan Horse' as the next single, though. Ho-hum
December 15, 200816 yr I adore this band so much now. Been listening to them alot lately and recently downloaded all their b-sides and stuff. They have so much great stuff, every era has been excellent and yet so different so far. Lovee.
December 15, 200816 yr Author i think with Bloc Party B-sides>singles. i have every single one :kink:
