Slipknot have pulled out of this weekend's (August 22-24) Reading And Leeds Festivals after drummer Joey Jordison broke his ankle.

The band issued a statement today (August 20) stating that they have withdrawn from the English festivals, as well as previously scheduled appearances at Austria's 2 Days A Week festival (28) and Germany's Area 4 festival (29).

In the statement the band said that Jordison had been advised to rest for four to six weeks following his injury.

Slipknot announced details of a UK tour, set to begin on December 1, earlier today. They are still scheduled to play the dates.

 I'm not really a fan, but I know probably there are some of you out there (including Chris) who will be gutted by this news...

I would be if one of my favourite bands pulled out of a festival I was going to! :(

at the very least i get to see Pendulum now as they clashed with Slipknot, but i wont enjoy them i will be too depressed.

the only thing that could of been worse was that if Rage Against The Machine dropped out.

The Clown doesn't "play" anything as such, he just hits things.... Him or the other guy breaking an ankle wouldn't be such a big problem...

Joey's actually a pretty integral member of the band, him missing would certainly adversely effect things, this would've been the first time Slipknot had played UK for ages, and they probably dont want to do any half-arsed shows with some stand-in doing session drumming. Nah, I can understand 'Knot pulling out because of this, getting a replacement at such short notice would be pretty disastrous....
