Lets see which artist is or has been #1 in the World Wide Charts, and the singles charts in the USA, UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Canada, New Zealand (and so far) 16 other countries with her latest single which is the biggest selling single in the world so far in 2008 with worldwide sales over 4.5 million so far?

 

Clue: Not the Saturdays.

 

Plus any artist who's debut single UR So Gay was a brilliant lyrical put down of her ex-boyfriend Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy), after he dumped her for Ashlee Simpson. Where the lyrics and video very clearly point to that. Hence the UR So Gay quote taken from a famous right wing US news reporter when interviewing the bass player from the EMO band due to his use of make up making him look like an extra from an early 1980s Culture Club or Duran Duran video.

 

But oh no according to you to song the song is attacking homosexuals, ignoring the rather insignificant fact that she toured supporting the iconic gay icon Cyndi Lauper on tour, and the fact that Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters) & Boy George (ex Culture Club) who are both homosexuals both included that track in 2007 year end magazines favourite songs of the years list.

 

As for not being talented, as I've mentioned before she was part of the anonymous The Matrix writing team who have written for Avril Lavigne & Britney Spears amongst many others, so to label her as not being talented is foolish in the extreme.

 

But no doubt you think the songwriters in Xenomania are less talented than Girls Aloud?

I'm sorry, but I've been listening to and buying new music for over 25 years. It was obvious from the get go that the likes of the Spice Girls, Girls Aloud, Sugababes & All Saints had the talent, the image and the songs to become major stars. It's not a case of whether I like the songs or not. For example I cannot stand the PussyCat Dolls but it is obvious that there songs are very catchy, well made and are bound to be big hit singles. And don't get me started on Stock Aitken & Waterman, but the bast*rds knew how to make catchy records to sell to the masses.

 

It is pretty god damn obvious to my ears that The Saturdays do not based on the songs that I have heard. Truth be told none of their songs are even as good as the first three singles released by S Club Juniors ffs.

 

Sorry, to say this, but I'm about as certain that The Saturdays will go the way of fellow girl groups Clea, Cleopatra, the Thunderbugs, Girl Thing, Hepburn, Eden's Crush & Bardot as I am that Chelsea FC will finish in the top 2 of the Premiership this season.

Eh? According to you in that case, Katy Perry being #1 globally somehow makes her good? Perhaps George Bush being president makes him an excellent leader. Perhaps The Sun being the UK's #1 newspaper makes it a quality piece of journalism. Perhaps you being a frequent poster makes your input somehow valuable. Oh no, in all 3 cases it's certainly a case of quantity over quality.

 

Ur So Gay is lyrically brilliant? Are you for real? Even Katy's fans know that's a terrible song. It has been panned left right and centre. It is mundane, mindless tat. You remember Metacritic? Well of course you do, you thrive on quoting it. It gave Katy's album an average of 43. Out of 100. That's an average score of 4/10. Is this the work of a brilliant artist? Absolutely not.

Im not 'playing' anything, im allowed to ask people to do things and to have an opinion just like any other member. The post didnt hint at any superiority, just mentioned three words. erm... katy perry in comparison to 5 pop puppets IS talented, 'i kissed a girl' is far better then anything the shyte-adays has yet done. im not a particular fan of kp... but ill respect a solo artiste singer songwriter over a manufactured 'confetti' group anyday.

 

and although you are right when you say (later in this thread) that sales dont equal 'good' (crazy frog ?...:lol: ) you have to put it all into some perspective. you tend to let your personal taste dictate what is 'good' and what isnt. you dont like kp, you do like the shyte-adays, so you are hardly going to give a balanced view on this are you?.
