Straight in to Friday evening, with the usual selection of charts via Top films, dvds, tv, albums, and Dave the Taylor, with the round up of the top singles of the minute. All coming up.

Here come the top uk films...

w/k ending 5th Sept 2008

01 NE HELLBOY II GOLDEN ARMY

02 02 MAMMA MIA

03 NE GET SMART

04 01 DARK KNIGHT

05 03 YOU DON`T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN

06 04 THE MUMMY TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPIRE

07 05 WILDCHILD

08 07 WALL.E

09 06 STAR WARS CLONE WARS

10 08 SPACE CHIMPS

HELLBOY II nets £2,969,602 on the first week, and GET SMART nets £1,542,005. DARK KNIGHT slipping 3 places, not really the huge blockbuster, we thought it might be.

(The top films are compiled by Screen International for UK Box Office)

The top dvd films...

w/k ending 5th Sept 2008

01 01 NEVER BACK DOWN

02 NE NIM`S ISLAND

03 NE AWAKE

04 02 MEET THE SPARTANS

05 03 IN BRUGES

06 NE DECEPTION

07 05 SON OF RANBOW

08 04 VANTAGE POINT

09 06 27 DRESSES

10 07 STEP UP 2 THE STREETS

So near, yet so far for NIM`S ISLAND, although pretty close.

(The top dvd films are compiled from top sales/rentals across the uk, up to Wednesday evening)

Here come the top tv related dvds...

01 NE DR WHO THE WAR MACHINES 1965

02 NE SUPERNATURAL COMPLETE SERIES 3

03 02 STARGATE CONTINUUM

04 NE ARE YOU BEING SERVED SERIES 7 1979 SERIES

05 04 ALLO ALLO SERIES 6 & 7

06 03 GOSSIP GIRL

07 07 V COMPLETE SERIES

08 08 STAR WARS ROBOT CHICKEN

09 05 TERMINATOR SARAH CONNER CHRONICLES

10 10 DR WHO SERIES 4 VOL. 3

Dave pops along and buys the dvd of THE WAR MACHINES, when he already owns the Video! I must admit to never being a fan of ARE YOU BEING SERVED, or ALLO ALLO...Both "Sitcoms", written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft. The word "situation", seems to conjure up almost impossible "situations", with both of them. Notice that Grace Brothers never actually got that many customers...but had 3 staff in Menswear, and 2 in Womens!

Here are the top tv shows at the moment...

01 NE X FACTOR 10.78M

02 01 CORONATION STREET 9.28M

03 03 EASTENDERS 8.92M

04 02 NEW TRICKS 8.87M

05 NE WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE 7.10M

06 05 MIDSOMER NIGHTMARES 6.87M

07 07 HEARTBEAT 6.80M

08 NE WHO WANT`S TO BE A MILLIONAIRE 6.48M

09 06 EMMERDALE 6.40M

10 08 10 O, CLOCK NEWS 5.48M

Enough said on tv. Didn`t watch any of them in the house. Thank God for Sky!

(top tv compiled by BARB, but we only include the top episodes of Soaps, and top edition of the News).

Plenty of Artists best of`s...IMAGINATION, BLOW MONKEYS, POINTER SISTERS, and VANGELIS (ex-APHRODITIES CHILD).

49 NE MIXED EMOTIONS - ROLLING STONES

50 NE PROUD TO FALL - IAN MCCULLOCH

I would like to turn this chart upside down...IAN MCCULLOCH for number 1! And JIVE BUNNY at 50...unfortunately it wasn`t like that. Then, we had too have a further 2 number ones, from Jive Bunny. BLACKBOX annoyed a few artists, with RIDE ON TIME but it was still the best selling single of 1989. CLIFF turned into KYLIE or was it JASON, with I JUST DON`T HAVE THE HEART and STOCK AITKEN AND WATERMAN. LIL` LOUIS got dodgy...do we remember the BIG LOUIS version? BIG FUN turned into MICK JACKSON, or the JACKSONS. MARTIKA stuck around the 5/6 spot a long time. LIZA MINNELLI is JUDY GARLAND`s sibbling, here she was with a bit of help from those PET SHOP BOYS. Housey, dancey stuff from STARLIGHT, BEATMASTERS, ADEVA...BEATMASTERS had a bit of help from BETTY BOO (her first chart outing). LISA STANSFIELD got stuck. KYLIE fell. QUEEN gave us THE INVISIBLE MAN...Did that sporn BBC2 to repeat DAVID MCCALLUM`s 1975 Best "INVISIBLE MAN" series? Maybe! ALYSON WILLIAMS took a long time climbing were her single. TEARS FOR FEARS were back. LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME, sprung in for BON JOVI. REDHEAD KINGPIN teamed up with the FBI...No not that one! DONNA SUMMER also did more STOCK AITKEN AND WATERMAN. EURYTHMICS, ANNIE and DAVE gave a REVIVAL. DEBBIE GIBSON was just about finished! SYDNEY YOUNGBLOOD got started. LIGHTNING SEEDS got lots of airplay, but couldn`t make the top 10. More S.A.W. from SONIA. DAMIAN gave us the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW in song. HAZEL DEAN was still trying (she started in 1976). PAULA ABDUL was doing ok, and BLACK LACE were definately not "The MUSIC MAN"!! A dodgy copy of this used to pop up, on Sky tv`s Music channels package...where it used to skip, at the end. ELTON JOHN`s HEALING HANDS was more popular in 1990, when it was coupled with SACRIFICE as a double A sided single number 1. The CHIMES also became more popular in 1990, when they covered U2`s I STILL HAVEN`T FOUND WHAT I`M LOOKING FOR.

(The 1989 charts were supplied by MRIB for Independant Radio)

Coming up Dave will complete with the top singles, and also top physical singles this week, so hang around....

) Position without downloads alone.

= Is the position on Chart Show tv.

4 weeks at the top for Katy. As Eric, closes in..though he won`t get it. Outside the top 60 are: THE GAME at 63, SONNY J at 68, FLOBOTS at 65, and CHICANE/NATASHA BEDINGFIELD at 66. As BLACKOUT CREW miss the boat.

Next week the only likely entries in the top 40 will be Duffy, Elvis, and New Kids On The Block. I expect top 20 for Elv, and Duffy...and just top 40 for NKOTB.

On the albums there are: NKOTB Greatest hits, Motorhead, Chemical Brothers, Miley Cyrus, and 80s favs Blancmange. Also, look out for compilations: Ibiza Annual 2008, and Singer.

NOTE: This is not the official chart. It is based on Chart Show tv`s chart, but with added sales, minus airplay. As regulars know, come Sunday the chart will be very similar. You can see the Chart Show top 40 in video form, on Saturdays (Sky Channel 365, Freesat channel 500) between 10am - 1pm. The Chart Show can been seen on Saturdays too, at 4pm and Mondays at 7pm (for those that still miss Top Of The Pops).

This week I'm going to strip the 1989 chart, as I like quite a lot of tracks from it

And a much forgotten small hit for Spandau. It should have done much better. Airplay for it was, not good. I notice Martin, that you don`t include that Black Lace song! "I am the Music Man, and I can play". "What can you pl-ay". "I can play the big bass drum, big bass drum" etc.

Why is Ne-Yo's single NCQ?
And on a separate note, regarding Ne-Yo's new single 'Miss Independent' there is 2 tracks at #40

Biffy and Glasvgas top 2 in physicals :o :cheer:

I really hope Glasvegas can stay top 10 until Sunday

Martin, I think there are two songs at 40 BECAUSE Ne-Yo is NCQ.

To show what actually will be at #40, same with Oasis at #35...

If that makes sense

Correct. But because Oasis would be 35 it would actually go 35 Oasis, 36 Sam Sparro, 37 Does It Offend You Yeahh, 38 Saturdays, 39 J. Magik, 40 Script, 41 Ne Yo, 42 Busta Rhymes, and so on! <_<

Maybe noone saw this:

Why is Ne-Yo's single NCQ?

^^ It's the same reason as for Viva La Vida and Falling Down...it's available when you pre-order the album.

I don't really understand why it's NCQ though, because people are still paying to download it.

Thanks Creme, I don't understand this either...

if it's the same as the others - when the album is available, the cost of the track is deducted from the price of the album therefore making the "single" a freebie. The OCC see it as an advance delivery of part of the album. The chart rules in the US differ as Billboard will count the track as a single sale. Other countries like Australia have the same rules as the UK.
