Posted September 11, 200816 yr Prior to another Boy George court case, he releases a new single in October called 'Yes We Can'. Featuring snippets of classic speeches by Barack Obama, the video features Obama, Ziggy Stardust, Marc Bolan, Divine, Amy Winehouse and Klaus Nomi..... I rather like both the song and the video, and it's great that George is now clean of drink and drugs. Let's hope he stays that way.
September 11, 200816 yr Amazing, I heard this played by Radio 2 only today. In short it is everything pop music should be about, a great uplifting feel-good song by a proper "artist" with a great funny slightly cheeky video (incidentally the first video to use that flash Pete Blake-esque imagery was one time arch rivals Duran Duran - Someone Else Not Me), in short is everything that the new single by The Saturdays is not, but oh dear at the moronic right wing homophobic racist comments on the youtube thread. Proof that if McCain gets in to the White House then the whole of the Western World is screwed.
September 11, 200816 yr One of my first bands i liked which i don't know how was Culture club because of BG's Appearance in the videos with the dreadlocks, the eye makeup and girly clothes i dunno but was really Addicted to Him and cluture club for a long time and also with the terrible last 2 years he's had, its great to see him have another shot at doing a song but i'm not sure whether i like it that much really :( And it will be a flop in my opinion
September 13, 200816 yr Author I can't see it being a hit, either - Radio One, for example, only plays artists post 30s if they're Bono or Madollar. But stranger things have happened.......

If it didn't matter to the whole world then I'd say The States deserved McCain.
September 13, 200816 yr I can't see it being a hit, either - Radio One, for example, only plays artists post 30s if they're Bono or Madollar. But stranger things have happened....... I just hope Radio 2 gets behind it, then it stands a chance and the video must surely fill up some column inches in newspapers. However, I'm very disappointed that they failed to get behind the comeback single by Cyndi Lauper, so I'm not holding my breathe, especially as they inexplicably have made Leon Jackson their single of the week.
September 16, 200816 yr Author they inexplicably have made Leon Jackson their single of the week. Mr Cowell must've been emptying his wallet at the Beeb again, then.... Leon Jackson? Oh please.... Cyndi Lauper's single was magnificent (my Personal Chart number one)... it's only the 2nd single I've ever liked by her - the other being The World is Stone. The new album's rather great, too.....
September 27, 200816 yr the video features Obama, Ziggy Stardust, Marc Bolan, Divine, Amy Winehouse and Klaus Nomi..... HqYTkW43nVU think i'd rather search for videos by Bowie, Bolan, Divine, Winehouse and Nomi tbh....or SASH! ngS8vBmrvUs Sash! feat Boy George - Run
October 4, 200816 yr That one with Sash! is a bloody shocker! I have a lot of admiration for George, well who wouldn't? Not into the track as such, but I like the concept of it all.
October 4, 200816 yr He was great on Later with Jools Holland last night, but musically he has always been a class act thanks to his very soulful voice. I still think this series of X Factor would have been watchable had he been chosen as the new 4th judge ahead of Cheryl Cole thanks to his huge knowledge of the music scene & his acerbic wit. Certainly the Kaiser Chiefs, Will Young & Sugababes think he should have been chosen instead of a member of Girls Aloud.
October 4, 200816 yr Winehouse tells Boy George: 'I'm a cow' Saturday, October 4 2008, 11:45 BST Digitalspy.com By Michael Thornton Amy Winehouse admitted to Boy George that she is a "mouthy cow", the Culture Club singer has revealed. The two met at a concert last year and share a past of drug addiction and trouble with the police. He said: "I told the audience, 'Amy Winehouse is brilliant but she's a mouthy cow.' Then I came offstage and saw the beehive approaching. I apologised but she said, 'No you're right, I am a mouthy cow!'" He added that he can sympathise with both her plight and that of George Michael, who was last month found in possession of drugs. "When I look at Amy and George I know where they are, I know what they are. I know what it's like to be clacking, sweaty and chaotic and to have no clarity."

I absolutely agree - whilst George could write lengthy books on pop stardom (and, in fact, has - 2 of them), Cheryl Cole's musical knowledge could be written on the back of a postage stamp - it beggars belief that Cowell (who, let's be honest, probably hasn't even ever heard of Boy George, bless him) has employed not only Cheryl Cole, but the despicable dwarf who gave us Boyzone and Westlife.... and the other Minogue sister who 99% of the public would struggle to remember a single song title of hers. It's so ironic it's almost hilarious that we have these 4 judging a musical talent competition.... I'd be ashamed to stand in front of them awaiting their pithy put-downs after they'd made me sing a Westlife ballad or a Celine Dion shocker. How utterly, absolutely desperate can people get?

Those with passion for music don't watch such programmes, or at least watch them with the full knowledge that it's adaquate saturday night TV at it's absolute best. It would've been compulsive viewing potentially if Boy George was on the panal, agreed, but the kids can relate to chavvy, tantastic Cheryl more. Edited October 4, 200816 yr by ScottyEm
October 4, 200816 yr Take it with a pinch of salt. But tragically if he had been a judge it would have given the show a credibility that American Idol has by having Randy Jackson as a judge. Whilst it was well publicised back in June that he was down to the Final 2 candidates for the vacant 4th Judges role as he would have been a more than perfect replacement for Sharon Osbourne, but obviously Simon Cowell realised that Boy George would have not rolled over and take the money like the other three puppet judges. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...icle1302372.ece http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/s...il/article.html http://www.nowmagazine.co.uk/celebrity-new...x-factor-job/1/ Anyway, I've just been watching the fantastic Living with Boy George documentary on Living TV which I will post shortly:

October 4, 200816 yr 7m1awKAH6jo Living With Boy George / Pt 4 lgE0JOCzcHI Living With Boy George / Pt 5 After watching that, if you wanted proof that Boy George is a witty, funny, acerbic, warm, brutally honest British national treasure, then please take the best part of an hour out of your life and watch these 5 parts of this show.
October 9, 200816 yr Author I saw Living with Boy George and I agree - he was incredibly warm, self-deprecating and honest. It's a pity more 'stars' weren't as brutally honest. He so should've gotten the job.... I have a feeling he wouldn't really fit in though - too much brains, personality and musical taste to pander to such banal sludge as XFactor.
