There's a difference in being retro and copying someone who is being retro...

Gosh, out of 20 videos they've released one single retro video, I don't get the problem with it really

Girls Aloud are versatile and all of their songs/videos sound different, so yeah they have a try at the "retro" genre (though it's still pop), and there's really nothing wrong with that (especially considering how bad The Pipettes flopped, you can't really say GA are copying them to be successfull...).

Why would GA want to copy an act who nobody knows about? lol

Thats just a stupid comparison to make.

I'll admit I've only heard 'Pull Shapes' by The Pipettes, but I wouldn't say they're an act no one knows about. On Last.fm they have almost as many listeners and plays as Girls Aloud.

Girls Aloud - 4,382,401 plays (195,276 listeners)

The Pipettes - 4,166,661 plays (189,075 listeners)

I don't particularly agree with the comparison made, but even if The Pipettes were mostly unknown, Girls Aloud could still copy them. A similar thing happened lately with Christina basically copying Lady GaGa's style with the performance at the VMAs and Lady GaGa is 'an act nobody knows about' at the moment. -_-

Well to be honest, its not really important, the GA video is still good and most people love it.

I dont really care about these pipette people and i doubt most others do either.

Sugababes have just got their new single at Number 8 , And they haven't done an appearence on "X Factor" , Girls Aloud relay on X Factor & Other Show's for their hit's , Sugababes will brake into the Top 3 next Sunday and may even get Number One it's physical and download sales are combined.

Love this song , I previously said it would go at Number 7 but it's growed on me and i expect Top 5 , It will be around for week's. By the way a fansite i was on before quoated the new album "The Real Aloud" is realised in the UK on November 10th .

Sugababes are performing on Strictly Come Dancing in an hours time, end of.

What about who´s performing on the MTV EMA´s that take place in Liverpool that week???? I´d say those have big chances of a #1. Whoever performs there, I´m sure it won´t be either Sugas or GA since they´re nobodies in the rest of the continent. So yay, whoever is doing promo at the moment has chances of being # 1 then...

A good point that may be a factor in that week's chart battle:

To date only one act has been named to perform at the 2008 EMAs ............. Beyonce.

No but the original song is on Boots' TV ad like every 15 minutes

Well, I love the Pipettes and as Aaron has proved above, so do alot of other people.....

What's the point of this statement? And I don't think it stand a chance to be #3 next week though.

And BTW, it's still a poor track, with a poor video, and everyone except the hardcore fans agree about this, so good for them if the chavs buy it, but their reputation is going downhill.

lmao i love that comment about GA needing xfactor and sugababes not needing that but then they were just on scd.

Dear god the Girls Aloud fans on this forum are enough to put anyone off no matter the quality of their work  It really is quite cringeworthy to read.

Anyway I don't really like the song that much, it's definetly losing something. Not a patch on 'Call The Shots' anyway, or 'Sexy! No No No' for that matter.

can I join the Pipettes love club  they are my 15th most listened to act on last.fm

Give it time Jack, its grown on everyone else so it might do on you in the near future.

BTW the EMA's are a big thing in the music calander in terms of the artists and record labels but not in the general buying public's eyes. It will be watched by less than 100k people in the UK, that means it will have hardly any influence over the charts (even if it is in Liverpool this year).

You could be right. The only Girls Aloud song thats never grown on me is 'Cant Speak French' and 'Walk This Way' and they were hadly their finest moments.

As much as I dislike the song right now, I do think the video is rather good.

Why is the audience so little? I thought this show was watched by millions? At least in USA, when act performs on their VMA´s it can make it´s sales skyrocket. But anyway, that week Dido will be releasing her new album so she will be all over, and I wouldn´t rule out the EMA´s and many talk shows in the UK, so I think she is in the battle too...

Yeah in America they're a bit of a deal but here no-one really cares about MTV itself, never mind award shows shown!

Dido releases her album the week after 'The Promise' and even though her single is out the same week as GA she will be focusing on promoting the album and therefore will save most promo for the week after.

You are fond of sweeping statements! Translation: YOU don't care about MTV, not no-one cares about MTV in the UK.
