Celine performed taking chances last year and sang it live - search fro it on youtube and u will see she sang live as she was a bit off at times and that wouldn't have happened if it was mimed!!!!

The thing was with this performance was that it was hyped up to the maximum. Pretty much every advert break on ITV there was a "This Saturday night, Britney Spears is performing on X Factor", and there was a lot of internet hype. So naturally expectations were pretty high. But imo she failed to deliever. She didn't mime very well and her dancing was pretty bad for a performer of Britney's calibre.

 

A lot of artists have mimed this year on X Factor, but there was a lot more hype for Britney than any other performer that's ever been on, so I think the general publicn EXPECTED a good performance. For the fans it might be excellent for you to see her out and about on stage looking healthy and enjoying herself, but the British public expected more, due to the hype. The British critics love to criticse any big performers, so when Britney gives a 2nd rate performance ofc she's going to get criticised because her performance in general was pretty poor. She's done 10x better performances, so in a way she's a victim of setting her standards so high.

 

Every act should sing live on X Factor, or else it makes a mockery of the show, and what James Corden said was exactly right. Skip this video to about 3.15 to see what he says, but for the average British Joe he sort of echoed what a lot of people thought.

 

 

 

Looking at alot of the past performances, Britney's was more entertaining then all of them from this season...just my opinion.

 

I do agree that she shouldn't have mimed on a live show though.

Tbf, EVERYONE knew she would mime. Even before she came on my Dad went, "I bet you a fiver she'll mime". But tbh now, who cares? Imo this is all very sudden (she should've had another year long break before returning), but compared to last year this is a major step up. Okay, so the routine was kinda lousy, but at least you could recognise her eyes this time (whereas during the VMA's she looked drugged up).

And tbh, what more could everyone except from a still recovering mental patient? (Not in offensive term, but that's really what she still is, recovering).

Listening to Radio 1 this morning (Moyles the t***), they were all completely slagging Britney off, saying it was the worst performance of the X Factor from any series! :/

 

No wonder she had a breakdown, if everyone treats her like scum when she's performing for one of the first times in the past year! Sometimes I really wish I wasn't British! :drama:

 

Fair enough, she maybe shouldn't have mimed, but it was still an excellent performance and she looked great! :wub:

I agree with whoever it was who said she's an easy target. So what, she didn't mentor the contestants like Mariah had time to - excuse Britney for having a career and a busy schedule, y'know? Didn't see Same Difference mentoring anyone, or performing live either, but no-one cares to mention that in their bitchathon.

 

Like I've said in another topic, part of me is amazed she's even alive, never mind out there putting a performance on at all - it WILL take time.

 

And I would also add that it wasn't Britney on every commercial break saying 'I'M ON X FACTOR THIS WEEK Y'ALL' ...ITV hyped it, not her or Jive.

But it's not her fault Simon & Co hyped it up so much for the performance! They would have known she would mime. And The performance WASN'T "Half-Arsed" as loads are saying. That's one of the most energetic performances we've seen Britney do FOR AGES!

Yes ofc it's not her fault for all the promotion, but if Britney Spears signs up to perform in the UK for the first time in years they're hardly not going to give it any promotion are they?! The show got the best ratings probably since last years final for the live shows, and people will have had expectations with Britney but she didn't live up to them. Like I said earlier, probably a victim of her own success.

 

I think it's alright saying it's not a "half-arsed performance" but personally I think it was. I've not seen other performances from her since she's come back (along with 11 million other people most likely) so we weren't known what we were expecting Like I said in my previous post it was probably a great performance from her fans perspective because it shows she's back and well, but for the average Joe it didn't do anything for them at all...
