interesting predictions there :o I can't see Dido going to No.2 with that bland comeback in a million years though...and you may well be spot on with Christina, I'd be surprised to see it go top 5 actually...it's just doesn't scream massive hit, it screams 'token greatest hits track' which is exactly what it is...

Well, Dido is # 1 on italian itunes with no airplay and no music video, before any promotion starts. When she releases it in her homeland, after a video is being aired and full promotion is on, she will be massive no matter how much it disgusts her haters... it´s a given!

Pop barbies are too overrated in this forum. They always get much higher predicitons then they deserve. You´d think after so much massive airplay the Sugababes would have debuted at #1 on downloads alone, instead of a weak # 8? Barbies are really TOO overrated here... Same with Christina. She wasn´t massive with her last album, when she was coming from the sucess of Stripped! Now, her sucess and hype have pretty much faded away and she is not the pop princess she once was. I can´t see that mediocre track being even Top 5. Same with Beyonce, no matter what. And Britney? Why is there any reason she should be that massive? She is coming from a massive flop album, none of her past singles have been # 1, and it´s a proven fact her sucess gets smaller and smaller after each release. Obviously her new single has pleased all "barbie" fans out there, but they hardly mean the majority of the countries population. Think that the average people are not keen on her anymore. I wouldn´t be surprised by Dido being # 1 by a second week as she is recognized by a much larger portion of the population then those singers with a limited teenager fanclub. I wouldn´t rule the Killers being #1 on downloads alone either. A few months ago nobody would expect the Sugabarbies to debut at # 8 while Kings Of Lean has week after week at the top, and an album opening with 220k sold. "Pop princesses" are always overrated in this board, but "serious" music always outperforms it with much less hype. I don´t think the new Dido track is boring at all (in fact, people who say that haven´t even heard it...), but still everyone also said all her other songs are "boring" and that didn´t keep her last album to sell 2.9 million copies in UK, so go ahead, being boring doesn´t keep her from outperforming all these wannabes.,..

Plus, Alesha? Who da hell is this? You can´t be serious... :D

Leona & Britney both performing on X Factor. So I think it will be a direct battle between these two.

Once again the battle is supposed to be determined by who gets the better TV oportunity... The charts are not THAT predictable, please...

Don´t forget that this is also the week when the MTV EMA`s take place in Liverpool, and being the biggest female all over Europe and releasing an album that week, I wouldn´t be surprised if Dido performed there. Her public crosses all genders, races, ages, etc, so she´s going to be bigger then those who only appeal to the strict young/gay audience.

Plus, Alesha? Who da hell is this? You can´t be serious... :D

Sorry, I do not live in the UK and I swear I had not heard of this woman until this topic. Is she the winner of a reality TV show??? I follow the UK charts quite regularly and I don´t remember EVER seeing this name high in either singles or albums charts...

Sorry, I just googled Alesha´s name and found out in wikipedia she was a member of girl band Mis-teeq (that I remember), which was hardly a massive act anyway. I found out also that she tried a solo career and her first 2 singles flopped so miserably that the solo album release was cancelled. And that was in 2006. So what is the fuss about her comeback since she is hardly a high-profile name?

What's wrong with us liking these 'Barbie' artists? Just because YOU don't like them doesn't necessarily mean they're over rated.

She won Strictly Come Dancing in 2007 so people are expecting her to have a bit more success this time.

Don't know if its been posted but Britney's single has been pushed back to 24th November (she's on X Factor in December so the late release will prob be to tie in with that).

Who have a MASSIVE FLOP Britney or Janet? Britney's album have sold 2,2 millions, Discipline 700 000 copies. ? ;)

:yahoo: more chance of getting number 1 now! but the week she performs on X Factor is a few days before her album release (Or its the release week that she performs) But i think it will boost singles sales for her too :w00t:

Mis-Teeq were very well known and popular in the UK and even achieved moderate success in America. Alesha was the most popular member. I wouldn't call 'Lipstick' a flop - it missed the top 10 narrowly. Her 2nd single failed on her labels part because they only pressed 4000 copies of the single. Alesha left them, not the other way round. She took her album and released it in Japan. She started work on her new UK album which will be released shortly. In the meantime she had massive success in Japan and won Strictly Come Dancing in 2007. She's had labels fighting to sign her and she's recieved a lot of press over the past year. I think she stands a pretty good chance. From what I've seen a lot of people are hyped for her return ...

'Blackout' wasn't a flop. It sold quite well, especially considering she did no actual promo for it. If anything, the only thing that promoted that album was Britney turning $h!t-stir crazy and trying to build herself back up again. She may not be as popular as she was a few years ago but she can still shift enough copies to outsell a LOT of people in the UK charts. She's had 5 (almost 6, but GA kept her at number 2 with Gimme More) UK number 1's and in reality; people love a success story. She's getting herself together now and people will buy it to see her succeed. She has a massive following so she will never be a failure musically regardless of how good or c**p her music is. It still sells ...

Britney is performing on X Factor in December, at what point is not confirmed, but it'll be to promote her album. So with the Physical being November 24th (not sure if the d/l is still 3rd November - it might well be) her single will get no boost from X Factor TV until December.

Leona is also confirmed to appear on the X Factor, on a yet-to-be-confirmed date, but I fully expect it to be 3rd November.

The X Factor guest list for the live shows currently reads:

Show 1 (11 October): Leon Jackson

Show 2 (18 October): tbc

Show 3 (25 October): Girls Aloud

Show 4 (03 November): tbc but fully expect it to be Leona

Only other confirmed guest is Britney, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Rhydian and/or Same Difference appear on the show this year.

On the chart battle itself, I expect Leona to take it by quite a wide margin - possibly double the sales of the #2 record. Forgive Me is no Bleeding Love but its a new track off the forthcoming Spirit: The Deluxe album and its catchy and quite instant. The video is #1 on iTunes at the moment, and the X Factor performance should boost sales.

I can see Leona shifting close to 100k.

I really don't think Rhydian or Same Difference will be on it tbh. It will be MAJOR stars like previous years! I think Womanizer will do fine without X Factor anyway (with the way its being hyped etc...)
Rhydian is already confirmed for 22nd November

Oh... :(

Yup Britney is not relevant in this chart battle anymore as she's been pushed back. I can't see Alesha doing much, haven't heard Beyoncé's so can't judge, Christina should get top 5 and I'm hoping Leona for #1. :)

I didn´t say it´s "wrong" to like them, I just say polls on this forum doesn´t reflect the entirity of the UK music buyng public, since people who like adult music is less likely to join pop forums, and so on... If this forum was a measure of UK popularity, then both Sugababes and Girls Aloud would have bestselling albums, but in reality none of their THOUSANDS of albums they release every year has EVER reached the million mark in UK, which isn´t so hard considering loads of albums pass the million mark every year, and sometimes even the 2, 3 million mark. I think they´re being overrated when everytime a female pop princess releases a new song and everyone on the poll says it´s a surefire #1 hit, and sometimes it won´t even go Top 5.

She won Strictly Come Dancing in 2007 so people are expecting her to have a bit more success this time.

Wow, really? That´s like winning Big Brother. Sorry, I can´t see any massive effect coming from this, unless the song is completely brilliant. I don´t think anyone would buy her song just because she won a contest which wasn´t even about music.

Who have a MASSIVE FLOP Britney or Janet? Britney's album have sold 2,2 millions, Discipline 700 000 copies. ? ;)

They both flopped. Janet a lot worse. But anyway, if Janet was releasing a new song I wouldn´t even predict Top 20 for it. I suppose you imagine I´m a Janet fan because of my nickname, but I´m not anyway... That doesn´t move from the fact that Britney´s last album bombed and she sells less and less with each album. Look at this:

Baby One More Time: Some 20 million copies worldwide?

Oops I Did It Again: 15 million maybe?

Britney: 8-9 million at best...

In the Zone: 6 or 7 million maximum

GH:MP - I´ve heard it sold 4 million

Blackout: dunno if it shipped 2 million worldwide, but real sales must be even lower!!!!

Where´s she going to? I know that artists can have a recover after a big flop, but that´s exception and not a rule! So Britney´s sucess is far from certain, it´s just anybody´s guess.
